I'll probably buy it before the release but I'm in no hurry to tie up $100.

Per Google:
Grand Theft Auto 6 does not currently have an official PC release date. The game is slated to launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.

Based on Rockstar's historical release windows, a PC version is widely anticipated to follow several months later.
Rockstar Games traditionally staggers its launches to maximize console sales and optimize for the PC platform later. For context, previous major releases like Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 arrived on PC about 13 to 19 months after their initial console debuts.

My kids have a PS5, so curious if they will buy it, or try to wait me out to see if I will buy it first lol.

I read that the 'Physical copy' will not have a disc. It will just have the box with a card containing a code. Some chain stores aren't going to carry due to not actually have a physical copy. Figure most PS5 owners do not have a disc drive. It is an available option, but a dwindling one.

I'd prefer to buy the disc version.

I also don't like that it signs you up for a GTA+ subscription on auto renewal.

X/S series are 6 years old now, even that is pushing the limit, do you really expect a game as advanced at GTA6 run on even older versions of the xbox one released in 2016, that may as well be a 100 years old, GTA6 would run like dogshit on a 2016 console.
 
I don't own an Xbox or PlayStation but definitely want GTA VI, but that probably means waiting for the next gen consoles at this point.

PS6 could be another 14 months to 3 years away, prices will not get any lower due to Ai boom buying up all RAM and GPU's, microsoft are likley exiting console market which is why Halo is coming out on PlayStation this month

Doesn't sound like you will need the latest and greatest, might as well bite the bullet.

My PS5 has been solid and it was a pre-order. I still have all the other Playstations and they all work so they do hold up over time.
