Fuel filler options for a stretched TJ?

Hey guys,
Currently in the last steps to finishing my TJ build and ran into this issue.

As you can see I’ve stretched my jeep quite a bit and I’m using the genright alien crawler fuel tank. The problem is that the fill ports on the gas tank are yes practically the exact same position as stock, however I’m not able to put the filler neck in the stock position. If i go where the license plate use to be the outlet of the filler neck is too long and i would have to do some crazy bends to bring it back. Not to mention the potential of my tires hitting it when flexed out. One thought came to mind is putting my tail light on some kind of hinged door where i open it and the filler neck would be behind it. I dont really want to put it inside the tub since i do run a softtop in the winter and would be a pain getting to every time i fill up. Not to mention the potential of gas spilling into my cab would be less ideal also.

I guess my question is, is the tail light door something i can find aftermarket? Or is there some other option i should do that I’m not seeing?

This is how I did mine. I think I picked up this bezel from Genright, and the tank as well. It's a bit flimsy, but it has lasted just fine. No clearance issues at all.

I always have in the back of my mind to print a stronger version of this thing, but it won't die.

Do you have the dimensions to that? I think i cut my corner back a little further than yours but it looks like a great option!

Take a look at @Woodrow 's build thread too. He used a marine style filler neck.

It's 6.5" tall by 5.25" wide. The stock unit is a rectangle, I trimmed it to fit tight at the fender (and yes, it was tight to the fender at one time ). The depth is about that of the stock bezel.

Nice to see some more TJ stretches! Doing a significant stretch and having a gas tank with filler neck in more or less stock positions is a challenge to say the least. I spent a lot of time doing a 6.5” rear stretch last winter. Here are some pics of my filler neck solution with a modified genright crawler tank:

The marine filler neck is much smaller and easier to fit in the reduced real estate. It surface mounts to the armor.
