STICKY Interest Poll: Limited-Run Custom Jeep TJ/LJ Seats (Upholstery)

I’m exploring the possibility of having a limited run of custom seats made for the Jeep TJ/LJ community. The goal would be to offer a high-quality design inspired by modern Rubicon-style seats while keeping the price reasonable.

This is only an interest survey at this stage—no deposits or payments are being collected. Before contacting manufacturers for final quotes, I’d like to learn what options the community actually wants. If there's enough interest in cloth or other materials, we can look into that as well.

*Update: These will be made out of marine-grade vinyl, not leather.

Limited run, maybe a yearly or bi-yearly drop? Look at the proof of concept.

I was wondering about that, too. Cloth is best for here in the AZ sun. Leather will brand you, plus dry out and crack after a few years.

'06 TJ "X" here. Absolutely, positively cloth of some kind. Leather is the absolute WORST possible seating surface. Its hot, its cold, it slippery, its expensive, and it doesn't wear particularly well. Vinyl is better as it wears far better and isn't nearly as expensive, but its still hot, cold, and slippery. The "right" cloth is the only thing I'd consider.

With leather on seats I've noticed it never wears well. I wonder if that has to do with the type and thickness of leather being used or if leather in general just doesn't wear well in seating applications.

The ones I have are made out of marine grade vinyl, they are really nice. not overly hot in the summer.

Vinyl exposed to the Arizona sun gets blisteringly hot. Even in the winter. Been dealing with that on my classic convertible vinyl seats for 20+ years here in Phoenix. 5 minute exposure to the sun is all it takes.

Don't worry, it's just a pitch for a community event drop, with the edge case of Arizona vinyl. If enough people are interested, this is something we could do if there is interest in the seats

I lived on the Gulf Coast for 30+ years and can tell you that vinyl seats and high humidity = wet back and butt all day long. I once put some KMart slip covers on the vinyl seats and the maybe 1/16” of foam backing on the fabric of those covers made a HUGE difference.

I would totally be in for fabric seat covers similar to the factory ones.

Just so i understand, if this concept becomes a reality our existing seats have nothing to do with this correct? This is an entirely new set of seats. We just remove our existing seats and bolt in the new ones? I would absolutely be interesting if these were cloth of some kind but vinyl or leather is a hard pass.
