What did you do to your TJ today?

Put my new wheels and tires on tonight...I have been piecing together a new set-up as I was never really happy with the 32's and JK Moabs. I picked up some Pintlers for a JK a while ago and a couple weeks ago, found some BFG Mud-terrains in the right size on CL. Tonight, I bolted em up, to check out tire size and overall "look". I like it, a lot...even with the Ghetto-Fabulous Chrome wheels. They fill the flares right, stick out just enough, and just look right. Tire size is 285/70R17 so that loosely translates to a 33 x 12.

I also did a REALLY quick photoshop rendering with the Pintlers...No Contest...I gotta get these on!

Nice photo shopping! So the 17s, are those load range D or E? Or can you find Cs in 17s?

After spraying the rad support body mount with penetrating fluid for two weeks, the bolt finally broke free. I have one left (drivers side rear bumper) to break free, and I drilled a hole so I can get the fluid to it today. I'll spray it every couple of days until it breaks free.

The BFG's I have are D. There are a select few tires in load range C in that particular size. I was looking pretty hard at the Nitto Ridge Grappler, which they make in a C. Ended up getting a real good deal on these tires (13/32 out of 19/32 tread) so I just went used this time around.

Holy smokes, I finally got my engine brackets and motor mounts installed. That was a job!

The good was that I didn't break off any bolts and they all came off really easily. The bad is that once I got the old bracket off the driver's side it was a son of a gun to get back in alignment. Everything shifted and for the life of me couldn't get it back. Finally after a lot of improvising I was able to get it all back together. The passengers side went much easier. This was really my first time ever doing work on a vehicle to this extent so I'm sure someone who knew what they were doing would have had a much easier time.

I took it out for a quick spin and you can definitely tell there are more contact points holding those pieces together, you can feel a little more engine vibration. But I'll gladly accept that knowing those things aren't busting loose!

What kind of condition was the frame in before the sandblasting? I had wondered how well that would work.
Frame still solid except for two small spots I will need to address by cutting out and replacing. So not going over those areas. Heres how it looked before...20180804_084410.jpg 20180804_083957.jpg 20180804_083812.jpg@Shane Mckinley after sandblasting I coated with phosphoric acid to try and neutralize any rust left over. A a day or two later after it completely dried I sanded or wire brushed the powdery residue off and wiped it down with a dry cloth. Then applied this to it...20180818_160443.jpg20180818_160527.jpg
Then I put on the top coat...20180829_094701.jpg 20180819_140854.jpg
I think it worked well. Time will tell for sure tho. I borrowed the sandblasting gun so that was free. It was a small gravity fed gun so it only held maybe a mason jars worth of sand at a time so frequent refills but it worked. Dont think the gun was much money originally. Sand was only $7 for 50lbs which was enough to do most all of the outside of both sides of the frame. Plus you will need a good air compressor, a charcoal respirator, goggles, etc. Will have to do something else for straight vertical shooting as the gravity fed gun doesn't do too well like that. Over all tho happy with the outcome.

Fell asleep with the windows down just before a small hurricane hit! Spent the past half hour after work pulling out and drying the floor boards, hate rust![

That storm yesterday was no joke. It took my wife over two hours to get from Bush/275 to 56/75.
