What should I name my Jeep TJ?

pretty sure this is some sort of modern day social media craze....naming your jeep.

I don't understand it
I doubt it is a social media craze, especially modern. I, for one, want to give the Jeep a name because I take great pride in it. I do all the work myself, drive it and baby it. It is a unique vehicle with character and you kind of want to feel proud of all the hard work you put by distinguishing it from other Jeeps. There are people who probably put flashy stickers all over the place, even though I have not seen too many of those, but the ones I have seen were pretty cool.

I'm of the opinion that it should be a Class A Felony to name your own Jeep. Owners that name their own Jeeps seem to always come up with stupid or corny names. For a good Jeep name, it should be earned from an event or funny trail the Jeep or owner has. Somehow my TJ became known as the Geezer Jeep which I guess I have to agree is pretty fitting lol. Someone even designed and made a very cool decal for me... It says Geezer II since the original Geezer was stolen. :)

Agreed jerry!

If the jeep has to have a name.. let it organically happen. Forcing something is goofy.

I dont name my jeep, but sometimes it gets referred to as "Old Faithful".

Other times I call her Baby... as in " Come on Baby, lets get through this trail, and I promise to change out your transmission fluids when we get home."

Jeeps are not children.

Haha, I was just thinking this.

I mean it's your Jeep, so you can "name" it whatever you like... I just roll my eyes :D

Now your WWII bomber, you can name that thing all you want!

X2 to this!

It's nothing new, names have been painted onto the side of Jeeps & vehicles from day one.

This photo is from the old Roy Rodger kids cowboy TV program in 1954, back when I was just a little boy. Roy and his WWII Jeep were some of my childhood heroes! We all loved his Jeep named Nellybelle, it somehow got its name from his sidekick Pat who rode an honery mule named Nelly.

Now they've just swapped out those cool, classic names for things like "RubiTron" or "Stormtrooper" :D

I was going to say naming your machines you love and spend time in or on is not new (see below) and seeing our TJ's can trace its family tree back to WW2 I think its fine to name your Jeep....I agree not to force it though.

My buddy named my first Jeep "Muddog" back in 1973. I have carried the name through five Jeeps over the years.

My dad's CJ5 is named Desparado with a DSPRADO license plate. That goes back at least to the mid-80's. I have considered getting a plate for mine that says DSP-RDO as an homage/joke because most would never notice it as a personalized plate.

I didn't have my first Jeep long enough for it to get a name. It was a green '73 CJ5 with the 304V8 that I bought cheap because it was having "issues" and the previous owner didn't want to deal with it anymore. I got it running and a few weeks later was offered 3 times what I had in it. Sold! But it did start my love of Jeeps

My second was the first vehicle I ever bought new. A blue teal with Levi's interior 1980 CJ5 with the GM 2.5 in it. It was my go any and everywhere daily driver for several years. On a camping trip, some one asked me if it had a name. I told him that I just called it my blue mule. Somehow in the next hour or so, that morphed into "Bessie" and it stuck. And she was my last Jeep until I got the LJ the other day.

I thought about "Bessie 2" for the LJ and the TJ Wranglers are kind of like great grandkids of the CJ5s. But something will come along that will stick. "Ol' Blue" has been a contender as well.

My first vehicle in high school was an old 85 blazer.

Friends called it "Worlds most dangerous", because it was a rough beater, that tore expensive leather jackets.
