Ah suck! Around here they sell like hotcakes. I'll probably sell my Coopers by December with 9/32" range and move on...
 
I've never had good luck selling used tires where I live. I need to save up for them anyways, so it's not like I can order new ones tomorrow.

Sounds like all 4 of your tires are already accounted for anyways between yourself and @lowranger
 
I'm pushing time limit on these tires too, going on 5 years now, so new meats are going to happen no matter how much I wear them down.

I'm going to Moab in the Spring to hang out with my Jeep buddies and wheel the great mystique but my tires are almost bald. I had to buy seat warmers because Jeeps are cold with the top down and a new Jeep Trail Rated badge because mine broke off when I was wheelin last week during my month long vacation. So I'm out of money and really need tires bad for this trip....please help...to be continued...

Lol! Good one! We'll leave out the part about how I need money for gas for the RV since it only get 6mpg's while flat towing the jeep.

I tend to hang on to things much longer than a normal sane person would.

Story of my life; shirts still from High School hanging in the closet. But I'm getting better since I got a Jeep. For some reason I'm starting to say, wth am I still having this for, and chunking it, taking some dough and going to get new.

In an effort to keep the ole rig looking sharp, it was time to clean up the faded flares, so some SEM trim black to the rescue.

So, my next project will be replacing the rear diff yoke. I purchased a HD Spicer yoke with u-bolts just like I did for the front diff. I will pull the rear wheels, calipers, and rotors so I have no resistance, then get the rotating torque of the pinion with my lb.in. torque wrench. Zip the yoke nut off with the impact, remove the old yoke, smear some grease on the new yoke shaft where the seal rides, then hand tighten the new yoke with a new nut while measuring rotational torque. when I get it to the previous value, I'll go an additional 5 lb.in. more and call it good. Does this sound about the right way to do it? @Rob5589? Edit: it's a Dana 44.

I would not go more pre-load on used bearings. I would pull the wheels, drums or calipers, take a measurement, pull the yoke, install new seal, new yoke, new nut with red loctite, and torque as close to the same pre-load as you can. Dip the back side of the nut in some gear oil prior to install. It will provide less resistance against the washer making it easier to get the correct pre-load.

The other, and best, option, is to pull the axles, cover, and carrier to obtain a more accurate measurement.

Hmmm, sounds like I could be opening up a can of worms here. Now I'm nervous! Maybe I should wait. Still considering taking it to Hunter 4x4 in Citrus Heights and have them check the rear end. Maybe I'll just have them do it.

Brah! Save the coin and come by my place. I am tied up weekends until Feb but am good afterwards. The 16th I am doing Toms gear swap, so anything afterwards or the Sat before would work. It will cost you a nice 6 pack, however :D

Thanks brah! I will take you up on that, and I'm in no hurry. Been 2 years + so far, so I'm obviously not in a hurry. I'll hit you up after February. Would like to get it done before Moab, end of April. In the mean time, I can replace the TC input/output yokes. Those are no brain'ers with no silly preload crap.

No new developments on the vibration?

The latest round of TC skid swapping, and Tom Woods massaging of the front DS did net some improvement. Still have that lovely harmonic wave at 50-60mph. Then again at 65+. If I drive at 62-63mph it almost feels normal. Glad I have a good stereo. I can drown out a lot of it with some FFDP.

Well, long term there's always the V8 swap. That should solve it ;)
