Smittybilt hardtop leaks

Searched first didn’t see anything ..

On my recent TJ acquisition, I discovered moderate leaks on both sides after a hard rain...front upper corner of doors near windshield edge.

Any owners with similar issues?

Other than trying some black stick on weatherstripping in those areas, any other thoughts?

Are either the top and/or door seals available?

I think mine is leaking in that upper corner. It’s getting past the door seal and ending up on the floor mat. I just ordered oem door seals. Since they are torn in spots, it’s worth replacing them even if it’s not the issue. It’s hard to tell exactly how the water is getting in. But, I believe that’s the area.

I apologize. I missed the hard top part. No wonder the corner looked so tight. I have a soft top. I shouldn’t post without slowing down to read it better and look at the pictures more closely. Sorry. My response is null and void.

I have the same problem on my hard top. Realligned the doors to make the gaskets tighter but it still leaked last night. My seals are in good shape. When it warms up a little I'll take it to the car wash and take a look on the inside while my wife sprays the exterior.

RockAuto carries the seals.

I had the same issue with the top. After a lot of realigning of the top and making sure all of the seals were positioned correctly the problem is mostly gone. Like you said, if it rains hard I will get a few drips on either side. I'm not sure what the permanent solution is for zero water penetration. It does seem to be a reoccurring theme with these tops.

I have the same problem with mine, emailed Smittybilt and received the image below from the owners manual. The door came with 2 squares of foam rubber type gasket material that is to be put between the top front corner of the OEM Windshield and the top front corner of the hardtop. it should fit in tight enough to seal and then you trim it to be flush so the weather strip in the photo lays flat over the gasket with no bulges or dips. Otherwise the water runs in the corner between the gaskets and drips onto the door panel and floor mats.

That's great to know! I walked out this morning to a few drops on the inside of the door. Nothing major but it sure gets annoying.
