Budget boost to coil spring lift

You should be able to get away with 1" of additional bump stop, so you can either cut those extension smaller, or buy factory jounce bumpers to put back up there and add the bump to the bottom pad. This will require removing the springs so you can first remove that crazy extension, then drill/tap a treaded hole in the lower pad to bolt on some bumps. Hockey pucks work well, or you can buy bump stop extensions thru the normal avenues.

Pardon my ignorance but can you diagram what’s going on in your second picture? It looks like the jounce and bumpstop are touching. Is it supposed to be connected where it’s all in contact? I see you tapped a bumpstop that looks like a puck but then there’s something sitting on top and then the jounce above that? Sorry I’m just confused.
 
In your prior post you mentioned that determining the correct bump stop is a lot of work, you are correct BUT there is no other way to do it. @jjvw has written extensively on this as it is the only way to keep parts from crashing into each other. Usually its you shocks that suffer.

I’ll prob have to do it when springs go in then. I think my confusion may be in the terminology. I thought bumpstops hung from the top of the spring not the bottom. And that extensions just made those longer, as shown on mine. And this is the first time hearing the term “jounce bumper”. So I’m still a noob learning but I’ll google these terms and find out.

He has cycled his suspension till the bumpstop (the puck) touch (the jounce has been removed). With the tire installed this will tell him if he has enough bumpstop. The jounce is a cushion not a stop and yes you are correct that is a hockey puck.

So when cycling and once they touch, I have to make sure the shock on the same side has not bottomed out? If it bottoms out before they touch then more bumpstop is needed?

If the cup and pad are not able to touch, then there is an interference that either requires extension or removal of the interference.
 
FWIW, OME springs will net about 2" of lift. If you buy the kit with shocks and isolators for 800+ dollars, the isolators are 10mm thick. That's where the extra half inch of lift comes from when people say OME is a 2.5" lift.
 
Ok I got it now. Thanks all for your patience and knowledge. I guess there’s no way around cycling suspension. Every Jeep is different. Amazon the best place to buy bumpstops and extensions? I want to have them on hand when I do this.

I already have new ranchos installed for a few months so the kit is not an option. Coupled with the fact I am buying the springs from another member used. I will most likely buy the yellow spacers from quadratec.

Anytime you read of someone with a broken shock mount, you can be pretty certain that the bump stops were not long enough.

Would you say from my pictures above that I have too much bumpstop extension and not enough space for uptravel? Looks like that gap is only a couple inches. So not enough bumpstop can be bad obviously but Can too much bumpstop be bad as well? I’m guessing it limits flex and articulation some?

You won't know if you need the spacers until you install the springs. I got 2.5" without spacers and am also level.

ALSO know that with each pair of springs there is one that is slightly taller. OME labels it as the "A" spring and the shorter the "B". The front A spring goes on the front left and the rear A goes on the right rear. Otherwise the rig will sit wonky.

If the gap between the hard parts of the bump stop assembly is significantly less than the exposed shock shaft, then that suggests that the BS extension is too long. Things are a little less clear on the rear because the stock shock mounts are put the shock at an angle compared to the spring travel. That's all the more reason to remove the coils and fully cycle the axles. Nearly all the guesses and mysteries are eliminated this way.
