That's not snow. That's a fine, freshly laid blanket of ice-melting, Jeep-rotting cancer. It's in my frame, it's on my frame. It's on my hub, it's on my tub. There is no escape.

You’re brave. I wouldn’t dare drive my Jeep in that. I would buy a crappy winter beater for that task!

My house is in a cul-de-sac and the last time the plow came through, they seemed to have gone wild with the salt because when I left that morning, the entire area was a slushy pool of chunky sea green salt water. 🤬

Plenty of 2007 JKs around here don't have frame rot. Goes to show that while salt is killer, the TJ's frame design was spectacularly awful. Would adding drain holes have been that difficult for Chrysler?

We use Magnesium Chloride here in CO, seems to be a little less aggressive than straight NaCl
I've noticed that it's a killer to bolt-on items that are poorly prepped when painted at the factory. I've got a Thule T2 bike rack that I've had since 2008 when I lived in Arkansas. While in Arkansas it never had anything other than surface rust on the areas where it was scratched. The winter season after I moved to Colorado I noted the paint starting to bubble underneath. I stripped it down, and sealed, primed and painted properly, and I've not had an issue since. Same goes for the underside of the Jeep. It gets cleaned and repainted after every winter season. Luckily, we're in high desert, and super dry most of the time. My Jeep has always been in the area where I bought it, and fortunately the interior of the frame is still slick.

It looks the same here where I’m at. My 2006 already some rust on when I bought it. So I cleaned it up and painted it the best I could. My plan is to keep it forever lol. So for the last 3 years I’ve kept it in my heated garage till all the salt is gone. And so it seems to have stopped aging process. Fingers crossed.

I unfortunately use my TJ as a daily driver and I’m the man who lays that salt down for my township. My frame was painted black and looked immaculate when I bought it 5 month ago. I’m not looking forward to seeing the aftermath this spring.

And you beat me to that!

I know it's summer down there but how wintery is your winter?
Where I am in New Zealand its not that cold at all really 40 degrees (never any ice or snow)...although we do get plenty of rain.
Further south we have a mountain range for skiing etc...(4 hours south). but the bulk of the proper wintery stuff is in the south island..about 650 miles away. They can get hit hard down there. and hit the minus levels.

Moved from the salt capital Rochester ny to Texas. This is my first winter ever not having to deal with white roads. The worst is sitting in line for 50 minutes at delta sonic waiting to get your car washed at least 4 times a week

You sound like Dr. Seuss! 😉
Could you , would you in a Jeep
Drive icy roads while others sleep
If salty roads destroyed your frame
Could you ever feel the same

Could you would you in the rain
With Jerry Bransford and Mr. Blaine

In a TJ there you go
Is it salt or is it snow

Why is this idiot , posting this poem here ,
Because his TJ , is getting regeared

His new ratio should be nice , 9:02 since he geared it twice
