Glove Box and Center Console Key?

Hey everyone, could someone tell me what key is supposed to work the glove box and center console? I tried the key that fits my ignition and doors, and it won't work the glove box. My center console didn't come with a key and I am trying to find one that will fit it. Can someone take a pic of you key (if it's not the ignition key) so I can figure out what to look for.

Hubby brought me home a 5 gallon bucket of keys to go through. LOL Would be nice to narrow it down to a particular looking key.

It is the ignition key. You may be able to have someone rekey the locks you have.

Hmm, wonder if someone changed my glove box? I tried putting the key in it, and it didn't seem to want to go in. I will try the other key. I tried the one I just had made, I'll try the one that came with the Jeep, although it is a duplicate too. It didn't have the original key.

It is indeed the ignition key. Someone must have changed your ignition cylinder key (or glovebox and center console key) at some point.

I think (but haven't verified) the console and glove box have fewer pins than the ignition key. So you may be able to find a key that works in these locks but not the ignition.

Just don't push down on that console key. Thought mine was busted for a while.

If your console came out of a different jeep you'll probably need to get it re-keyed.

It should be your ignition key, but it won’t go in all the way like in the ignition. Mine only goes about halfway into the glove box.

Ok guy's. I don't know what I was doing wrong the first time I tried the glove box, but I got it to work today. So my ignition key does work my glove box.

Hubby took the cylinder and my spare key to work with him because the key man is coming to his work. He is going to see if he can rekey the cylinder to my key. If not, I will take it to a better locksmith and see what he will charge. That is if I get tired of trying the bucket "o" keys. LOL If all else fails, if it is cheaper to just have a key made to fit the cylinder, I will do that and carry two keys.

I'm thinking it should'nt be too hard or expensive for a locksmith to do what I want. It's not like it is a Fort Knox cylinder. LOL I just want it for when the top is down I can keep the honest people honest. I know a thief will get in it pretty easily. LOL
