Problems with ASD relay

I am in need of some advice or knowledge... I have a 2000 TJ with 4.0 and one day went out and no start. Never had any symptoms prior. I have researched everything related to “no bus” and csp and relays and fuses and I am stumped. Installed new csp and replaced all fuses just bc most of them were assumingly factory. After that the asd relay started buzzing very loudly, so just put a new relay in and no buzzing but still won’t start... weird thing is if I bypass the relay with a jumper wire it fires right up!? Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Also I’m new at this forum thing so I apologize if this is in the wrong category

The ASD relay will be shut down by the computer if it's not happy with everything. The CPS signal being one of the inputs the computer has to be happy with before it will keep the ASD on. I'm being forced to go to an early dinner right now so I can't write more right now lol.

Lol I understand thanks for the reply

Is there a way to bypass this stupid relay and keep the Jeep from shutting itself down? My Jeep is seldom happy with anything such as aftermarket sensors, etc and preventing the engine from being able to turned off simply because something is a bit off may be a way to rid the Jeep of many of its problems ...and Jeeps are nothing but problems!

Oh, and how was dinner?

I am having the same problem, I took the cap off the ASD relay and if I force the Realy over while cranking it will start and run. But it just cranks with no spark if I don't. What engages this relay? Thanks!

If something is wrong enough to shut the ASD relay off the engine wouldn't run anyway.

Then why have the ASD anyway? It runs enough to energize a relay to shut down the engine. I tried jumping mine out to prevent the ASD function and it made an uncomfortable clicking noise. I wish I could defeat the ASD. I say let it run if it can! If it won't run, then maybe I can find the problem and fix it. If the engine !@#$s it's self up anyway, no big deal! It's just a Jeep and should die anyway!

Jeep engages the relay, that what engages the relay. Any manufacturer that creates a means of shutting down the engine at the slightest hiccup simply has NO faith in the reliability of their product! I have several other none Jeep vehicles and I have never had a single problem with sensors, computers, O2 sensors, etc. And none of them have an ASD relay!
