Rear end feels like it's floating

Body roll affects both ends together and usually happens during a turn. Shocks and sway bars typically address this.

Bump steer is at the front and occurs as the suspension moves up and down causing unwanted steering input resulting from poor steering geometry.

A generally wallowing feeling is possibly the shocks not controlling the movement.

A loose sloppy feeling would be from lose sloppy connections and are also probably noisy.
So I was just going straight down the freeway and to me I could be wrong it just feels like the rear is floating side to side. This is the 6th tj I’ve owned and never had a worry driving them on the freeway at 75 till this one.

Do a dry steer test and see how tight the steering linkage and box are. What kind of steering is on there?

A generally soft, mushy, wallowing feeling is possibly the shocks not controlling the movement. That doesn't describe Bilsteins.

Could bad tires cause this. Their new only a few hundred miles but I bought from discount tire to save some money.

Good ol rear steer.

Check all the rear control arm bushings by rolling it and slamming the breaks as you watch the connections.

You can also set the parking brake, get underneath, and rock a tire back and forth with your foot.

Be diligent...the rear axle is anchored to the frame by the control arms and floats on the coil springs with the shocks damping that movement.

If it dips when you stop and rocks back and left or right when you start ,it's most likely body roll caused by the control arms/bushings.

Also check the rear track bar bushings if it has one and the rear sway bar bushings , those are especially suspect.

The thing should drive like a go cart more than a boat.

Let me add this ..

A long arm should drive awesome , and I'm sure many short arms do as well.

A long arm seems to work well on the freeway ..if it's set up right.

Really pay attention to the back control arms ,mounts ,etc..that's where it's at.

Also , unrelated, check your 4wd shifter... especially in 4 lo ..the kit shoes some linkage parts possibly, or they may be for an auto...but lifting one creates linkage issues, Savvy transfer cases solve them.

Since it's a newer lift , the bushings/joints don't worry me so much , but something is wrong from what you are describing with the the way the back axle is moving .

Older Jeeps were never designed to go over 65 MPH
This is the first long arm I’ve had but I’ve had multiple Jeeps with short arm lifts never had a problem going 75 plus and feeling comfortable doing it.

That is what I thought long arms were better designed for freeway and I’ve read th full traction is one of the best for freeway stability. I’ll check into these things thank you

Long arms are irrelevant to what is going with your Jeep or what it can or can't do on the highway.

Ok but if a possible bad bushing could be causing the float feeling than that’s not really irrelevant. I don’t really know what the issue is and am open to any suggestions.
