Folks who make astonishingly poor decisions at every turn seem to survive and get by just fine. Case in point is the feller who was going to buy a rig from me and the deal fell apart at the last minute. Anyway, he has a large Class A diesel pusher. He flat towed the JKU back to Ohio to visit family. He arrived back in CA yesterday via the 10 to the 60 and somewhere just past Pigeon Pass the air brakes were having an issue.
He pulls off the freeway, finds a parking lot, parks and takes off in the Jeep. It isn't quite clear what he was trying to find but the key point is at some point due to the Jeep being low on fuel, his pockets low on cash, he decides to walk back to the motorhome to retrieve the two gallons of fuel to put in the Jeep.
After a couple of hours of not finding it, then being unable to find the Jeep, he calls his only buddy in this part of the world to come and rescue him. My neighbor drives about 1/2 hour or so and finds him charging his phone at a T Mobile store. They drive around for a fair bit looking for the motorhome. Hoopty can't recall which exit he pulled off of to see what was wrong with the brakes nor does he recall which side of the freeway he parked on and when he left the Jeep on foot to look for the motorhome, he did not recall those pertinent details either.
Neighbor drives around for an hour looking for the motorhome. Gives up, buys a gas can, puts fuel in it and they set off to look for the Jeep. Several parking lots later, they find it at the Walmart, put the fuel in (it was low, not out) and gives Hoopty all the money he has on him to put more fuel in at the gas station a block away since he has to get back and attend to his father.
How do you lose a motorhome? How do you lose a JKU that is bright yellow? How do you think it is a good idea to walk to look for a lost motorhome when you have a perfectly good vehicle to drive? How do you not see a gas station a block away that you drove by to get into the area where the parking lots are?
