Hidden Falls Adventure Park - 2017

This is what my brother and me did over the weekend - also, in case you live in Texas, this is what Hidden Falls looks like:

Well actually, your entire state is basically an off road park! You don't need one.

Well actually, your entire state is basically an off road park! You don't need one.

Pretty much. 4x4's are a way of life up here. Except for the various and sundry National Monuments, wilderness areas, State Forests, wildlife areas and other off limits wild spaces, the whole state is just one big off road park. It's an embarrassment of riches. We make do though.

Hey @Chris, how about Brown's Camp? Do a little shooting in the quarry, run powerline or sidewinder, maybe do a little mudding in the meadow. Not exactly the same thing, but close to it.

Yep, that's my destination spot for sure. I can shoot and off-road all in one. I think that's about as good as it gets around here (without traveling a lot further at least). There's tons of land I would love to off-road on, but it's all private property.

I was kinda half kidding about Brown's Camp actually. It's a nice place to shoot, but not all the 4x4 guys up there are the friendliest. There's a hierarchy, and my little SE doesn't fit into the accepted norm. Oh well, their problem, not mine.

On the subject of private property...there's private property, and then there's private property. A lot of the timber companies really don't care if you are cruising on their land. A good rule of thumb is if it's posted or gated you probably want to stay off. It depends on what day of the week it is as well. Some of the bigger companies close the gates during the week to keep people out from under foot while they are working, but open the gates up for the weekends. Then there's fire season. Everything gets shut down for that.

Look up valley of the giants, and Valsetz. That's a nice, kid friendly ride in the early summer.

Oh really? I've never had to deal with any of those 4x4 guys, probably because I always just go by myself (with the family). Interesting though!

I'll check those places out for sure! What I meant by private property is that sometimes we're driving out on these rural highways and there's just land everywhere on both sides of us. I want to just go off the highway and start driving, but I'm pretty sure this is someones farm land (even though I don't see any crops), and there's no way I would do that without permission.

lol, right? It's like the Jeep has a mind of its own. You have to really fight it to NOT head off across somebodies field. Big mud puddles in the spring are especially bad.

Looks like fun. The wet conditions sure added an element of difficulty. You could definitely use some lockers!
