I fried the PCM

I hooked an older battery charger up to my Jeep. I tried to start it with the charger still on. The whole Jeep hummed like a swarm of bees. I fried the PMC-ECU. I took me forever to find the right computer for my '97. I put the new one on. The Jeep would turn over and stay running for a second then die. I checked all my fuses. (Block and glovebox) Switched around relays. I think I fried something else. Any ideas?
 
Sounds like SKIM to me. You might have to take the PCM to the dealership to get it disabled.
 
Did your Jeep come with the SKIM security key option? Did the replacement PCM come pre-programmed for the SKIM security key system? That it started (not just cranked) but then dies 1 second later sounds like a SKIM system issue. Especially if it gives you the amber key symbol on the instrument cluster once the engine dies.

I agree, that definitely sounds like a SKIM issue. My 97' didn't come with a Sentry key, and the company didn't send me a computer with one with that programmed into it. I asked. I actually found a reputable company. I had an online company try to get me. Any other ideas?
 
You are into pretty heavy trouble shooting. Without an expensive test set it will be difficult to say what is going on.

It does sound like the ECM is triggering something to turn off the engine.

With a relay jump kit you can test signal to the relay and find out if the fuel pump is being shutdown or if the ESD relay is being tripped.

Not recommending a brand just pointing out the tool.
