2002 TJ, want to replace outer door latch. I just can't get into position so as to see what I'm doing to make the repair. Is there a big problem with cutting out the indented panel adjacent the latch workings? I'm old, 75, and too arthritic to get into the dang thing without cutting out that part of the inside of the door.

Its only 3 screws and 3 wires with plastic grips, dont cut the door. Get a little help. I changed them several times and the hardest part for me is getting the door panel off.
I struggled replacing the assembly. I finally hole sawed 2 each 1 inch holes above the areas where the wedges es start. No problem then putting in the wedges and the cotter pin. I would advise the engineers who designed the door to, "Design things that can be easily replaced"!
