Cable to tilt rear seat broke

On my 2006 Wrangler, one cable broke to tilt to the rear seat. One side roll on latch but the other side stays locked. I need to access the broken cable but unable to remove the fabric from what I believe are j hooks. This would allow me to free the mechanism to fold the seat over so I can remove the hole seat to fix. Any idea.

You can buy tools to remove those j-hooks. Also, any local upholstery shop will have those tools as well, and may be willing to let you use one or do it for you. That's where I would start.

On mine, I can fold the seat backrest forward but the whole seat will not rotate forward. I reach under the seat and rotate the round bar by hand and that allows the whole seat to rotate forward giving access to the seat bolts so you can remove the seat.

I will try and get a pic tonight on what you need to press down underneath the seat, to Tumble the seat forward without the cable. I have to do it to mine every time, as I put aftermarket seats in and lost my cable attachment

You can still rotate the round bar under the front of the seat and the whole seat will rotate forward enabling you to get to the rear bolts.

Two bars. Thick one and skinny one. Ill will try rotating it. But rear still is locked.

Newer jeeps are so fancy. I just have a stamped piece of sheet metal that I lift up on the left side to fold the rear seat.

Sorry, I misread your original post. I thought you were talking about the front passenger seat.

I, too, am having this issue, and if anyone knows the elusive location of where the fold and tumble rear seat release is, I would definitely appreciate a photo!

I had the issue with mine. I took the seat cover off partially and found the latch on the side of the seat about 1/3 of the way up. I was then able to release the one side with my hand while using the cable on the other side.

I was not able to find a replacement cable assembly. Only one of the two cables on mine was broken. I ended up making a cable using a cable from and old mountain bike. I was able to modify one end of the bike cable by filing the ball and I believe I used that in the latch side. I then made a brass end for the handle end and soldered it to the cable.

Cut one end off the mountain bike cable and slide cable out of case. Cut case to proper length based on old cable case and then figure out how long you need the wire to be. You can pull the plastic parts off your existing cable to make the casing fit each part of your seat. There are some YouTube videos about soldering ends on cables.
