What's a great speaker setup to make the sound quality better and louder?

So I have just recently got an alpine ute 73bt stereo as a start to upgrading my jeeps stock stereo.
Here’s the setup of speakers that I am wanting to get but I want your guys opinion before I buy:I’m thinking about getting two kicker 6.5 deluxe speaker sound bar pods and two 5.25 kicker deluxe dash speaker pods to replace the factory crappy speakers. Then I would like to get a small sub nothing to big because I want a louder better sound rather than stupid loud bass which just sounds annoying. I feel like the factory pods aren’t getting the job done and since I have already upgraded the stereo I don’t want to blow the factory speakers so I am looking for something to compliment the new stereo.Also how much louder would these be compared to the stock ones and is it even worth it.

Make sure you get speakers with the highest Sensitivity rating you can find which means how many dB they put out (how loud they are) at a given wattage output level. I'd only choose speakers that have at least 90 dB Sensitivity rating with a 91 or 92 dB sensitivity rating being better. Kickers and Polk DB series speakers are good speakers with good high Sensitivity ratings, you should be fine with either.

Yeah I found on there website that they had a 90 dB sensitivity rating

Really happy with how it sounds. And the cost wasn't bad either

No but I wouldn't suspect that they are much lower than that due to them being designed for the OE headunit. I was just cautioning to keep the speaker's Sensitivity rating up as a high as possible. There some 92 dB Sensitivity rating speakers at either Kicker or Polk but a 2 dB Sensitivity difference is not easily heard.

OOooh yea. I think the Sony deck has like 50 watts so that helped. It's significant. Even on the freeway or driving around with no top on.

Make sure you know how that 50 watts is rated. Sony does have a high wattage head unit but 50 watts RMS is some serious power while 50 watts Peak or 50 Watts Music Power is nothing to get excited over.

It's a Sony MEX-N5100BT. Website just says 55 watts at 4 ohms, 1 khz.

The bottom line is it's quite a bit louder than the stock stereo.

I thought it was a huge improvement. I could barely hear the stereo at 70 mph on the freeway, or even 25 mph down a bumpy trail, before. Now it's no problem at all to hear it... or feel it!

My Jeep had Kicker speakers in it when I bought it. The biggest problem was lack of bass. An amp would help the Kickers for sure instead of running them off the Alpine UTE-52. I added an inexpensive powered subwoofer, Sound Ordinance, and that made a huge difference in volume and sound quality. It took a little tuning to get the high and low pass set, but sounds much better. Taking the bass out off the soundbar and dash speakers was made did it acceptable. In my mid 20s I would have wanted more, but at 53 it is plenty.

You’re on the right track.

I know you don’t want bass, but every system needs some bass to balance out the sound and bring fullness and richness to the sound.

1) Aftermarket head unit with decent RMS (20x4 or better) with sub outs
2) 5.25” for dash with 90+dB
3) 6.5” for soundbar with 90+dB
4) 8” Powered Sub (Sound Ordnance, Rockford Fosgate PS-8, or Kicker)

Specs on that stereo say:

CTA-2006 Power Rating: 18W x 4
Max Power Output: 50W x 4

So it'll be a big improvement. And adding a sub & tuning it will seaparate the highs & lows so those speakers aren't handling the lows as much & end up sounding clearer, even more capable of more volume.

Look in your center console, drivers side. Do you see a speaker inside there? If so, the Jeep came with a sub in it & it's probably garbage. The Kicker 6.75" sub will fit in there. Then I mounted the sub amp up under the dash, passenger side. The compact subs like JMT listed are great too...... I have a pair of the Lickers under the back seat of my Chevy truck. There are a couple of write-ups on this forum of how guys got them installed. Their a bit larger so possibly a little harder to hide in the Wrangler.
