@JimT , I have had countless 911 calls to people that were seen in the ED, given orders and RX's, and did nothing with them. I always ask, "What did the ED Doc say," and 9 times out of 10 the answer is nothing. Then I ask for discharge paperwork and it has all the info right on it, tests done, diagnosis, and discharge instructions, as well as scripts.
Up until I started selling products to folks and interacting with them on a personal level, I must have lead a very sheltered life and was blessed for some unknown reason by being around a fairly civil and honest group of folks.
I have become witness to the perfect antithesis of that group through dealing with the public at large. I would have never believed there are so many that will do things that are just downright dishonest to acquire free stuff. Fortunately, the vast majority of our customers are good folk and we have only had a few issues with theft.
The biggest good issue we have is lack of reading comprehension. Good because they aren't being dishonest, just don't understand what something means. We get 2-3 requests per week for expedited shipping. We quoted the cost at least 50 times trying to help and not once did the customer agree to it because it is just too high. Typically more than the cost of the parts.
After that much wasted effort, we put a note up that we don't offer it, don't ask. Doesn't matter, we still get 2-3 requests and I answer each one with the same answer and they still don't like it.

There's nothing wrong with asking questions, even if they're stupid questions. Hell, I ask stupid questions all the time. The thing is, they aren't stupid to me, because it's an area where I don't have a lot of knowledge.
However, if I ask a question like that, I am open to learning.
I think the problem arises when you get the guy that asks that question, but then he has a chip on his shoulder and doesn't want to actually learn anything in the process or listen to any of the advice from the more knowledgable folks.
I know nothing about brakes compared to what Blaine knows. So when I ask him questions, I'm more than happy to learn what he has to say.
On the contrary, I'm sure I could sit there and talk circles around Blaine when it comes to coding, SEO, PPC marketing, etc.
What I am trying to say is that we all have our areas of expertise. It's pretty hard to be a master of all trades!

I've had this happen a couple of times trying to make a purchase and I don't understand why they are so intent on sending me back to some place to find an ad that is quickly moving down the page instead of just telling me the price, the amount, and where to send it via what method. I've posted the entire verbiage and there is no mention of how he will accept funds. WTF?
Others know what's up and reply with the amount, PayPal friends and family for the listed amount, or regular PP + 3% for fees. Other will take PP regular, fees included, others only take Money Orders, etc. The options are too varied to make any assumptions which is why I ask. That and I've had some sellers lower the price because they finally got a taker, others have said, Sorry, it just sold. The only way to know so there is no confusion is to just ask.

My nature is to be overly kind and helpful to the point of detriment to mine and my wife's relationship. If you are my friend and I have something, with only a few exceptions, it's yours. Even when I make purchases on CL, if the price is what I'm willing to pay for the item, I don't negotiate, I just pay it. If I don't think the item is worth it, then I don't contact the seller. I do the want ads on that gun parts site the same way. If I want it and I think the price is right, I pay it. I don't understand what is so stinking hard about it.
I've gone back and read the email several times and I'm still trying to figure out the snarky part. As you well know, if I want to be snarky, you know it and there is no doubt you are in the presence of a professional snark.

I don't see anything wrong or snarky with the message you sent. It could be a case of him getting a ton of emails asking the same thing, and then the seller not getting any response after he answered their questions. I know I can get testy selling stuff. :/

That's what I'm scratching my head about. What demeanor is he referring to? Near as I can tell, Blaine was asking him a simple, and legitimate question.

I seem to be collecting them at a prodigious rate. There was a gun for sale, price was fair, it was advertised in very good condition.
The same sort of BS as above started but I worked through it and made the deal. Main point of contention is after I sent funds, I didn't hear back from him in a reasonable time and when I asked he replied that he tries to answer emails within 24 hours even though that wasn't the case when I was working the deal on the purchase. It only came into play after I sent the money. As per usual, they want the Friends and Family transaction which I don't do for purchases. I added the fees and sent it over.
Gun arrives and it is beat to shit. Or beat to shit for a gun described in "very good condition". Looks like it was leaning against a table and someone knocked it over. Barrel band has a ding it in, receiver has a nice ding in it, gun is filthy, packaging was crap, and the magazine is worn badly.
I contact the guy, ask him if he sent a different gun than he described, or did FedEx beat it up? He lamely tried to explain that he meant mechanical, not aesthetic. I explain that my position is very simple. Had he posted up pictures detailing the aesthetic, I would have passed and never made the purchase, now that I am in possession of a misrepresented item, I want a remedy. Refund of an amount to lower the price to a commensurate level or take it back and issue a refund.
I don't hear back from him for a period of time that makes me a bit nervous so I hop into PayPal and start the dispute process. I get a phone call from him 10 minutes later. I guess we can make contact in a timely manner when it matters, eh?
I can send you some pellets and refund shipping. Not gonna happen

You are being too nice. If the item isn't as described just send it back and let PayPal freeze his account until he confirms it's back and restores your payment. It sounds like he was being purposely dishonest, to which I have no sympathy for.
You are very correct but I'm not sending it back without funds in hand. I don't trust him to do the right thing and at the end of the day, I'm enjoying making him squirm due to a few of his snarky comments in email about my questioning him on his response time over the payment. I'll get my licks in and then some. I enjoyed the phone call as I'm able to focus on a single point regardless of the amount of bullshit someone is spewing. There is only one thing that matters. The item is not as described. He can figure out what to do about it but that part hasn't changed.
He started with his feedback on the board is 100% with many positive transactions. I told him that no one on there knows me so I'd be more than happy to put up pictures and let the board decide which he promptly declined.
