Anyone Tried This TJ REPSUB Replacement Subwoofer?

Well, as I mentioned in my og reply, I paid $60 bucks to have a shop run the wires. Its truly not as difficult as everyone here is making out to be.

There is in fact an OE wire harness that runs along the carpet (over the trans tunnel) and some of those wires eventually will be in contact w the aftermarket sub unit. But the stock power wire isn't thick enough (regulatory / safe, whatever its called) to power the Crutchfield sub. So thats why they provide proper wiring. The power is run from the batt to the sub, w a fuse in between (again, im not electrical authority) but this is why I preferred to have a shop do the wiring. Below is the raw basics:

1- remove console (you)
2- removed old sub from console (there's some clips and screws that you'll need to remove to take out the old unit)
3- install wire kit (I had the shop do all of that)
4- stand unit on its side
5- place console over the top
6- screw the console back in place (down onto the body)
7- enjoy excellent sound

At one time, (after enjoying for a year) I removed the center console to thoroughly vacuum and actually see the work this shop did, (they did a clean install) and it was easy to removal: unscrew, disconnect wires from the unit. I vacuumed everything and reversed the process w no issues. To expand- this is how I had the shop do the work: I left the center console gutted and removed (sitting in the Jeep) when I arrived at the shop for the install, I simply handed the tech the Crutchfield sub and wire kit and told them I wanted the sub to live inside the center console. And that's what they did.
Unless for some reason your console is different than mine, it will fit nice and snug. I have a 2001 TJ, w the sub console that has cup holders for rear passengers. Believe its a 'long console'.

I have no worries about running the wires, I just wanted to see how much room it took up in your console and how it was secured.
Mine does not have the stock sub, so it would be a new installation. I already have a amp wiring kit hanging in the garage just waiting to be installed, somewhere. I have considered getting a powered Bazooka tube, but I like the idea of installing one of the "flat" subs in the console.

I really don't know if one of these subs will fit in the regular non-sub console. I'd take your console out and see if the internal measurements allow for fitment. Sorry I can't be of more help.

You're right, I went out and looked at my console and there's no way one of those will fit without mutilating it. Oh well, I'll probably go another route.

I dont believe that it will fit a powered sub, but you can add the speaker + needed security and a small amp under the dash, to power the sub.

Go with a compact powered 8" sub and do something else with your console. You could probably use the storage. When you get a compact powered sub the amp and sub are in the same enclosure. You don't have to worry about ohms and all of that stuff. The dimensions of most of them are about 14"x9.5"x 3". Someone mentioned the Sound Ordnance on here. It's made by a subsidiary of Crutchfield (who I do recommend, they are a good company, very helpful). The Sound Ordnance they sell is $150. The Kicker is much better but twice the price @$299. The Rockford Fosgate PS-8 is equal to the Kicker and can be had at Amazon for $189 (Everything is included except a ring connector for ground wire and one for the power connector at the +battery terminal.) I think it is well worth the improved quality over the Sound Ordnance. Read the reviews on both and you'll see that some have luck with the Sound Ordnance and some do not. There are many who do not. Fortunately Crutchfield will replace them multiple times, but do you want to go through all that? Rockford Fosgate is one of those companies like Kicker that has been around for 30 years. I mounted mine on a board under my rear seat, on the bottom of the seat, not on the floor. It unplugs in 10 seconds so I can remove the seat with the amp attached underneath. It solved all my bass issues and more. Easy peasy and blows away my wife's factor Bose system in her Yukon. The crisp sound quality is superb, top on or off...But not so much that you blow the doors off...

I already had an amp when my stock sub blew
Tried the $20 Amazon sub that lasted about3 days...pyramid I think it was? Literally smoked.

Found a $6 4 ohm Sony house sub at the thrift store. Fit perfectly after gutting the console sub box and stuffing with pillow stuffing (again thrift store)
Still going almost 2 years

Moral of the story is...
There's lots of cheap options if you scrounge around and keep your eyes open, or you can just about spend any amount for the same result.
