Found a 2005 Rubicon in Electric Lime 6 speed with 80K on it. Clean frame, under body, no rust at all. Just installed new windshield, front suspension and steering parts, valve cover, misc maint. Its at a dealership so they sent it through the shop and did what was needed. Has steel aftermarket bumpers, look like Warn to me. Has an unknown winch (cover on it) seems well cared for, not wheeled hard. Has small lift with adjustable arms (unknown brand) and Rancho RS5000 shocks. Tires are worn but serviceable (I can replace for under $1000 with BFG). Seems high at $15,500 compared to NADA and Kelly but these things are starting to bring a premium. Thoughts? They don't seem very willing to negotiate. I will try to load some pics. I want a trail capable jeep that drives well, and to build one cost more than a Rubi when clean Sports are bring $10-$12k here.

I personally would not think of buying a 2005-6 Wrangler due to the OPDA (oil pump drive assembly) issue that isn't always easily or permanently fixable. I'd stick with a 2004 or older that does not have that issue. Some will claim success fixing it but that's definitely not always the case.

Looks decent. I really like that color. Did you run the VIN to get all of the info? How about CarFAX? $15.5 does not seem like a bad price for a Rubi with only 80K on the clock. Appears to be pretty clean.

I've had my '06 LJR manual since 2013. No issues. OPDA was changed out by previous owner prior to any mechanical issue with the OEM one. Jerry is def the man when it comes to Wranglers, so do a lot of research on the OPDA and decide yourself. Could be like my VR4, some were gold and some were turds, either no issues or non-stop issues, lol.
I will say, that's a bit high in price. KBB/NADA are virtually useless for Wranglers and classic cars. Unless it has super low miles, then $15k may be on point. Best of luck!

I ran auto check, 3 owners no accidents. No reported issues, just registration data from KS and MO.

For what its worth, the front bumper isn't a Warn (I have one).
Stick your fingers in the frame holes and dig around, you'll find dirt in there, but what you are looking for is rust chips. Just gives you an idea of what you might be looking at. Looks pretty good though!

Price doesn’t seem out of line from when I was looking a couple months ago. See a few things I personally would want to change but that is beauty of these things, ability to customize. Color is awesome!

That's what it would go for in this area and it wouldn't take long for it to sell. I wouldn't let potential OPDA issues stop me from buying it, especially if it's a manual tranny. Automatic tranny may be a different story with shifting issues from the ECM which isn't easy or cheap to fix.

Do the mods it has suit your needs or will you redo it? If the latter, might be best to wait for a stock version and fresh platform. Never know what you’ll find on a modded TJ that cost more than expected to “undo”... ask me how I know.

Its mostly what I want. Rubicon so Dana 44 F/R and a hardtop, small lift, bumpers, winch. I am sure no matter what I buy it will change over time. My friends don't wheel real hard, but it will probably get some upgrades along the way if things break or wear out. The color is unique but not a huge factor for me. I am headed out to look it over, its 3 hours away from me. I will report back this evening.

I'd like to see more of the underside, but from what I can see, it looks solid to me, especially for the price.

15k for a TJ Rubicon with 80k miles is a good price around these parts, especially if it's rust free.

So here is the verdict. Runs great, shifts great, clutch feels fine. Goes into 4H and 4L no problem, both lockers engage and disengage easily. No fluid leaking other than some small oil weeping, probably rear main but not enough to fix yet for me, no drips just damp. All fluids checked are the appropriate colors and level. No diff leaks, but I see RVT so maybe serviced recently? I will check diffs and t case tomorrow. Finger in all the frame holes revealed no grit, no flakes, just smooth virgin metal. This thing is virtually rust free in all points I could access. Under carpet nice and clean no rust or damage. All the lights and accessories work, cold air, hot heat. Runs right at 2500 RPM in 6th gear at 65mph and sounds like a pack of attack helicopters is chasing me. The tires are HOT GARBAGE. Has 33x12.50R15 Mastercraft MXT and they are terrible. Fronts like new, rears 75% but they have got to go asap. Replacing with BFG KO2 or KM3 haven't decided yet. After some negotiations got the dealer down a grand and drove it home for $15k out the door. Here's where the fun starts.

A mile or two down the highway the HVAC was set to AC dash vents and suddenly changes to defrost vents. No worries, drive for a while and stop for gas, I find the vacuum line hanging off the manifold. A new rubber elbow fixed that issue for a few bucks. At the same time I smell coolant and see a puddle under the Jeep, not good. Investigation finds the upper radiator hose is missing its clamp. Clamp found dangling from middle of hose. Probably from when they replaced the valve cover gasket at the dealership. Could have been worse. Fixed that for free with some borrowed channel locks at the parts store. Topped off coolant and drove 225 miles home. This thing drives like a riding lawn mower. Steering parts are all new and tight but it does not want to stay on center. Feels like occasionally the rear is steering too. Could be some worn suspension bushings. Its not terrible, I can keep it in a lane at 70mph but I am not used to it. I drive a 2019 Ram for my DD so this is a change. Knowing its a 15 year old lifted Jeep I am not worried. I will dig deeper tomorrow. Plus I need to work on normal used car preventative items like belts, hoses, etc. Good time for me to get familiar with the Jeep my wife has affectionately nick named "Booger". Hope that one doesn't stick.

Oh, forgot, it has a working Warn M8000 under the cover on the front. Controller was in the glove box with the owners manual and some repair receipts from the past owner.

Can I join your club now?

Nothing you just said is a big red flag. The little stuff is just that... little stuff. All of it very common, and typical of an older TJ.

I would say yes, you can indeed join our club now

Seriously though, it's a rare color, and it looks clean. The Warn M8000 is a nice bonus, and the price is what I would expect for a clean TJ Rubicon with that mileage.

Sounds like a nice Jeep. The tires might be most of your driving issue if they are cupped, out of balance or have broken belts.

Good job booger. 🤭🤣👍

Agree, I can fix most of the issues for parts cost myself. I get a smokin' deal on tires. I'll have it sorted quick. Talking of going to Disney OK with friends this weekend. Got to have it ready for a road trip by then.

It feels pricey but there's a lot going for it too. If you can swing the price pick it up.

Tires are both cupped and out of balance but not terribly either. Just cheap ass low quality aggressive tread low tech mudders. I'll put some quality tires on and it will make a big difference I am sure of it. Ill check all the joints and bolts underneath either way.
