Oil pressure sender with different year engine

Hello all,

I know that there are hundreds of questions about the faulty oil pressure sender on our TJs, but i cant find one quite like mine.

I have a 97 with the 4.0. When i first bought it, it did the familiar drop to zero when the engine was warm/highway miles. Then turns out when i bought it, the coolant leak was not a head gasket, but a cracked block.

So long story short, i have an 04 block in it now. The gauge still does the drop to zero after warm.

So my question is, do i buy the sender unit for a 97 to match the computer, or an 04 to match the block?

Any help is appreciated, I've kinda just written it off for awhile as I wasn't driving it much due to gears, axle upgrades, tires, blah blah blah, and the level was good and all sounds were normal from the engine

I just looked at them on rockauto and they don't look exactly the same so I'm going to guess that the one currently on the Jeep came with the new (to you) engine because that should match that block.

Oops! What the heck was I thinking? The end that's different is the end that the harness plugs into.

You can swap the 04 oil pressure sending unit connector onto your 97.
Replacement connectors are available.

Factory part number: 5019913AA

But he's just replacing something that's already there and working, not doing a new install.

Gotcha. Matching the harness makes sense. The part number ive seen to find is 56031005AB. That seem right?

I saw that thread but wasnt smart enough to read the post about basically being 3 part numbers for all years. Thanks!

When you replace it. Make sure you use some electrical contact cleaner to thourougly clean the harness before reconnecting it to the new sensor. It is usually full of oil, dirt and grime.

Received the part today, My 97 does not use the same part number as 98. 56031003 and 1005 have different connector pins, even though the body is the same.

oh man, that sucks. Sorry about that. My goal when I put the table together was to figure out what I needed for my 99 TJ's. Once I figured that out, I left it alone. Funny that no one else has said anything about it in months.

Well i did what i wasnt supposed to and bought the Crown brand sensor, as i had marred up the old one removing it, and now didn't have one at all. so far its been okay with the check gauges. Bought the one ending in 1003, and it plugged right in.
While calling around, a couple dealerships confirmed that 1003AB if for the 97
