Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

I get it man. Have you considered full hydro steering? It seems to solve and create issues obviously, but it might solve steering packaging.

I know Paul will dial in your shocks and he’s got some ideas on where your going for, listen to him. The aiRock is a PITA as most have pointed out but I get you and why you love it and want to make it work (and I understand that another 30k in suspension and axles is not going to happen) so comprise. You won’t have the numbers, you won’t have the billy bad ass TJ, BUT it’s yours and you are building it. It will be awesome.

FWiW, the cost difference between AiRock and no AiRock is the cost of a set of springs. Plus all the time and money not spent trying to deal with the interrent compromises of the AiRock system.

Yes it wasn't a cheap system to buy but the money has been spent so why would I trash it now? Can you raise or lower your Jeep by a push of a button? Nope. Belly hung up on a rock so now you have to winch, I push a button and raise the belly off the rock and drive on. Going down a trail with a SERIOUS side hill, I can lean my rig to the up hill side. These are all things the AiRock system does that no other suspension does. And again it's MY JEEP so if I want to spend the time dealing with it I can. Plus as I have said time and time again it makes my life easier getting in and out of the Jeep.

Yes I have thought about going to full hydro steering. If what I have planned this time doesn't work then I will look at it more.

What do you mean it won't be a BILLY BAD ASS TJ? I consider it more so because of the AiRock system. Sure it's a PITA to work around for some things but once you ride in it you'll understand.
And yes if I was to go to coilover's now it would cost a lot more than what the AiRock cost. And I don't see them as a plus.

No worries, I was being serious though when I left that part out.

I have those nights too, I try not to post cause I can be a serious asshole when I’m like that. I truly get it.

I’d love to ride in the Jeep when it’s done, always wondered what it would be like to adjustable suspension on the fly!

The way I describe it is it's like riding in a Cadillac when running up a logging road and you hit those torque bumps. And as I said to jjvw when you are going down a sidehill trail being able to lean uphill is a good thing.
Rimrock has a ton of them and it feels more stable (I'm not sure if in reality it is) like you aren't going to roll.

We'll hit some trail together once I'm running again. Have to plan a PNW get together.

I too would love to experience a ride in your Jeep, but me in Tennessee and you in Washington, it won't likely happen. It definitely has some unique capabilities. I'm not sure everyone knows your story and how it plays into your build.

No working on the Jeep today. I've got to get the old pump off my compressor and get it ready for the new one.

Ready for the new pump. Unfortunately UPS doesn't get here until after 4PM most days .

The new pump isn't going to be a bolt in replacement either. Going to have to drill new mounting holes and plumb it in differently.

Got a email saying that my RCV axles won't get here until the end of May.

Just to settle the debate about the AiRock system. I am not going to change it now as I like the system and I like the things it can do. I have things I need to figure out and there are things that I don't like about it but I also am glad I installed it. If my Jeep was stock I wouldn't have half the issues I do but what fun would that be? You don't have to like it and don't have to agree with my choice but it is what I am going with.

Got my new pump and have to run into town tomorrow to get some parts so I can get my compressor back up.

Well I wheeled my rig for 5 years with the AiRock and enjoyed it. It wasn't the AiRock that was the problem. The issues and why I've decided to go with the Savvy mid arm was for a better link kit than the Nth Degree. So while I agree I'm sure I'll be impressed with the mid-arm I still think that the AiRock isn't a problem.

But only time will tell.

What is it about the AiRock that is the problem as you see it?
You and jjvw think I should just go back to coil springs. What will that gain me?
The air bags are doing the same thing as coils. So I put some 4" coil springs in and I'm back where I was when I installed the AiRock.

I'm not going to remove the AiRock. So how about we get past this and instead of telling me I'm trying to apply locktite with a grinder offer some input that is helpful?
