Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

I don't know about the rear driveline at this point but with my old setup at 10" of travel I didn't have issues. Also I have moved the axle back almost 5" so my rear driveshaft will be longer. And I am running a HP60 rear axle so that helps also. Even if I have to limit the rear to a 12" travel shock I think I'll be happy with the results. 12" of flex at both ends is a respectable amount IMHO.

That is what I mean by moving the mounts. The same goes for the the rear. :)

Got it.
I knew that the rear mounts were going to have to be moved since I had stretched it out. I think I have a better understanding and at least have a initial goal in mind. Of course that all can change as I get farther into setting things up.

If the rear is capable of 14" of travel is there anything bad about the rear having more flex than the front?
 
Got the new pump mounted and ready for parts to arrive Thursday. Got to love Amazon for stuff like this.

It's time for the removal of the very first mod I ever did to my Jeep.
The Poison Spyder Rocker Nockers are coming off. Sad to see them go but the Savvy rockers will take their place.

Get what you reasonably can. I would be very surprised if you can get 14" rear at full flex without digging the tires into the outboard shock mounts. On the front, 11" is about the limit because the tires will dig into the upper spring seat. This is one reason to go with wider axles.

I know Dave often builds for more travel, but I have a hard time believing that travel is clean and clear and isn't putting things into bind that shouldn't be.

Cycling the axles with the tires on will tell you a lot.

Well like everything else I'm waiting for my new tires to get here. I know from reading your build you have done a ton of flexing and know how things fit.
I'm 1" wider in the front than stock. Not really a big deal. And my rims have a 4" backspace.
I have only met Dave once and didn't get to see any of his builds flexing so I don't know.
11-12" of travel would be just fine with me.
We'll see how it all packages out once I get to that point.

Here is one of Dave's builds. When I talked with him he said he could get 12" of travel out of a stock width TJ.
I don't know and will be happy if I can hit 11" in the front and 12" in the rear.

Like that, I don't doubt it. Now turn the wheels to full passenger lock and see what happens.

I'm not defending his builds just came across one of his pictures. I know he seemed very knowledgeable when we were talking and the rigs sitting out in front of his shop were nice but some were mall crawlers.
 
FedEx just dropped off some bling for my front axle. Looks like the information I was given about the RCV axles was wrong.

Well I guess I'm not going to work on the Jeep this afternoon. Just got a call telling me my tires are here so I can go pick them up. Things are starting to come together.
