Gear ratios and bad advice

Good thread. I bought my 02 4.0 w/ 32RH and 3.73 gear in October. The previous owner had 35's on it. It wasn't too terrible but I think it's going to be much better with the 32's I am putting on it now.

Not the ideal ratio, but it will be WAY better with 32"s on it, that's for sure!

So, I've had my 06' Golden eagle for about a year. I bought it used from a dealer, it already had a 4" lift and the wide flares. It was obvious the guy that traded it in had larger tires, and swapped back to stock when he traded. I put 32" tires on, to me it feels fine, but it's the only wrangler I've ever owned. Just wondering if anyone has a guess at what it's geared at? It turns about 2100 rpm's at 55mph. Just trying to figure out what I have exactly.

Automatic or 6-speed manual?

Thank you again! She seemed torquey enough to me! But I have seen the "you don't know how bad you've got it until you try something new" comments before on here, just making sure I'm not missing out! Haha

I have a buddy that has a blazer and doesn't understand why in would have to go 5.+ for 35s he says 4.10s and your good I explained I have the 42rle with terrible overdrive and gearing. He looked at me like I'm stupid. Lol

When in reality, he's the one who is stupid haha. Some guys just don't get it.

Exactly. The looks I would get when suggesting something lower than "4.11's" cracked me up. Many think 4.10 is ridiculously low and can't imagine anything in the 5.XX range.

It's ridiculous. I can't tell you how many times I've seen/heard something along the lines of "I want more power but I don't want to go above 2000 rpm. Wastes too much gas and hurts the engine."

Ignorance at its finest. You have to learn from those who actually have experience with these engines and can't base your decisions off of 2000 rpm in a Jeep straight engine.
