Inaccurate oil pressure gage

hey coda I diconected that that and the gauge still pegged. I checked volts between the orange and blk/lb and I have 5.04 volts. Any more ideas.

Looks like you have verified excitation voltage, now you can test the signal voltage to make sure the sending unit/connector and or wiring is shorted:

Probed the voltage between the GY/YL and ground with the connector disconnected it should be 0V if it is not then there could be a short in the harness.
Another place to verify the sensor is to probe the voltage in the same location with the engine running and the connector connected to the oil pressure sending unit, Depending on the actual pressure in the engine the voltage should be between 0 and 5.04, (2.5V ~ 40PSI on a 0-80PSI sending unit) rev the engine and the voltage should increase.

Hey buddy I did that. And ended up with 5v. So I’m hopping it is in the plug and not the harness.

ok between 1 and 3 unplugged engine in on position I I ha .001

With the key on and the sensor plug disconnected, connect meter's (+) lead to pin 1 and (-) lead to pin 3, you should read 5 volts. If you don't, move the (-) lead to the batteries (-) terminal and see if you get the 5 volts.
