Body lift with rock sliders

thanks. Seems like a comprehensive list but trying to understand which ones would avoid the issue. I think there’s a terminology that I’m not following.
What you want are ones that only mount to the tub and do not interface with the body mount or frame in any way.

thanks. That’s more clear...I thought there may be a way I could get there but it sounds like I need to cover get something that wilL sufficiently cover the holes.
 
Once you turn them down to compensate for the thickness of the material of the slider you are good to go. All body mounts will have equal pressure on them

Cool...that's certainly a better solution than buying sliders that do not interfere with body mounts. For reasons unknown to me, they start at $400 or so.

I understand my sliders won't work over a rock...but when you are mall crawl like me, you don't care about rocks.

If you don't plan to lay them on rocks then you're 100% fine with one that mounts to the frame/body mount.

sure. Part of me is curious if there are any drivability issues caused by the body mounts being unlevel with this style of mount.

I’ve slid mine on rocks plenty of times. No damage yet. I know they are not the strongest...but they are a lot stronger then the stock ones or just the tub! I don’t ever plan on bashing them so I’m fine with them and the design

Also what you can do instead of cutting down the body lift spacer is use a washer the same thickness of the rock sliders on all the other spacers to compensate.

There are tons of examples of rigs that actually used their body mounted sliders that messed up the tub since the sliders just pulled away from the tub and ripped the bolts through the tub.

The washer idea works too it seems and is a lot less complicated.

what concerns me about swapping out rock sliders is now I have a whole bunch of holes in the tub. That can’t be good.

Maybe. Maybe not. What other things are you ok installing with uneven loading and large gaps?
 
I installed the poison spider sliders with my 1.25 body lift. I put my body lift pucks on a lathe and turned them down 3/16” to compensate for the 3/16 material of the sliders. After I turned some new metal sleeves to go inside the body lift so I didn’t crush the bottom body mount when tightened back down. Picture below to get the idea View attachment 181883

Is that bottom end of the sleeve bigger than the middle part? I believe I understand what you did here though. Also did you have to drill out the hole in the BL puck any?

Yes, no reason besides I didn’t want to turn down the whole part.

I can’t remember, this was a while ago and I am no longer running these sliders. If you are going to run them I would consider cutting the slider around the body mounts and bolt the sliders directly to the bottom of the tub.

Or get different sliders all together. Using the body mounts as the mounting location is asking for trouble.
