What did you do to your TJ today?

Just came back from buying a complete LJ soft top for $180. It's a Bestop replacement in close to new condition. I already have an unused OEM soft top I also got for cheap last year, but I think I'd rather put this one on when the time comes to remove the hardtop

Replaced the OPDA in my '05 4.0. Took about an hour, reused my old stock cps. Fired right up, no codes so far. Fair notice for those who haven't tackled this yet, the retainer and bolt are a major pain in the ass, i used a stick magnet and long skinny flathead to get it into position, there is absolutely no room for normal human hands to get in there. I really hope I don't have to do this again anytime soon

Took the jeep from san diego to Idaho elk hunting. Unfortunately it was early / pre rut and while I did get on one nighttime screamer I ran out of time before I could make a play. Did call a pack of wolves in, in the dark timber right at dusk. As they closed the distance I decided maybe that's not the best time and place to make a stand, and booked it back to camp. Big windstorm knocked down half the trees in the forest 😂. Spent half a day winching trees off the ridge road. Shoulda took a saw.

Got back and tackled the valve cover leak and replaced the tranny mount. Slowly chasing down all the little nuiscancy problems...

Changed fuel injectors and installed injector / fuel rail insulation while I was at it. The new ones (not oem) caused a nightmare of issues, wouldn't seal at all. Took two days before I put the old ones back in.

Two weeks and it's back to Idaho for some wolf/bear/elk.

Back in March when I was contemplating what could fill my time, I started buying up Jeep accessories to do some cosmetic and just some fun stuff. I knew some of the projects would take a few days and I wanted to wait until I could get several days in a row that would be nice and comfortable since the shed isn't air conditioned (Texas heat, I live out in the country). Well, it took me about six months to get to the interior work.

1. New internal shifter boot. Now I won't get the heat blasts.
2. New Bedrug. You don't have to remove the seats, but since I was replacing them I removed the seats and the console since I was replacing the boot. Cleaned the tub (great shape, no rust, Jeep has been in Texas its whole life). Made it real easy.
3. New Bestop front and rear seats. I got the Trail Max II seats with the fabric insert for the front, plain vinyl for the rear. I thought about not even getting a rear. My old seats were in pretty bad shape, I considered just redoing them, but in the end decided on the Bestops. Very comfortable and more lumbar support!
4. Tuffy underseat security drawer. Concealed carry. The console is Tuffy also, but has other junk in it.
5. I found an OEM, still in the box InstaTrunk. Love it. Had the Tuffy, but this one is OEM and says Jeep on it.
6. OEM jack and tools. No more rattling around.
7. Inside Winch Controls.

Still have more to do, but it's time to go riding in the Jeep somewhere!

Reprised from previously, this harness with filters powers both my CB and my GMRS radios.

Here it is plugged into the back of the GMRS. The somewhat surprising news is that the ignition noise I previously had in my CB is *GONE*!!

Have you tried to connect directly into the battery where you can use it as a giant capacitor which filters the power supplied?

Yep - that's the way its connected - but there still an "antenna" between the battery and the radio, and it was picking up some ignition noise. Not horrid, but there. This filter got rid of it. Probably a Pi section filter would be my guess.

I have had good success with the iron ferrite core filters that snap around the power leads, but I also have had success with those filter capacitors.

Hopefully this never happens but never say never right. Using a Hi-Lift Jack hardware on a broken axle.
HILIFT JACK TRAIL TRICK by BSF Recovery Team

A friend had to do that in Moab many years ago when wheeling on slickrock with a Dana 35, Detroit locker and 33" MTs; broke the axle off at the splines inside the locker.
