Cross country trip planned

My wife and I have been across the country to both coasts on our motorcycle a few times. Now that we own a Jeep, we'd like to continue our adventures by going from Northern Kentucky to California in our '03 Rubicon. Other that using a tad more gas, is this a bad idea?

I frequently drive my 06 X from Colorado to northern California, during all seasons. It has held up great, with zero issues or breakdowns . It's not as far as you, so if you have any doubts about your jeep as far as worn parts, or it's running, fix it right the first time before you leave. Enjoy the trip, as you know, lots of beautiful things to see in our great country.

It's in very good shape. The guy I bought it from had all the maintenance records and had just gone through it doing upgrades and replacing anything that was worn. I replaced the tires myself and took it to Maryland and the drive was very smooth. We plan to leave a few days after Halloween. I wonder if we should stay down around the I-40. I'd really like to go through Colorado and Utah but was thinking at may be a little too cool along that route since we will be camping along the way.

Where I'm at n/w of Denver, it's 80's all this week, cooler on the weekend, don't know beyond that. Nothing as been "normal" this year.

Take a few weekend trips between now and then just to serve as shakedown runs. Then you can determine how well it does, and what personalities it wants to exhibit.

I’ve taken four multi-thousand mile trips out to the west. My lack of an overdrive kind of limits the speed I’m willing to travel so I often stick to two lane. I actually enjoy taking the Jeep over more my practical choices because it feels a little like an adventure.
The two best things I did comfort wise was add a dead pedal to rest my left foot and I attached a fold down sun visor extension to the roll bar just over my left shoulder. The sun will be lower on the horizon that time of year.
