Slow 05 LJ Build

Yes, the Rokmen tuck works with this but after having this same setup I would recommend it. For one, the 1/2” body lift works with their tuck, but you leave a lot on the table by not just going with the typical 1.25” body lift.

In addition, I would never again run a steel skid plate. That Rokmen skid is an honest to god 70 lbs, maybe even more. An aluminum skid such as UCF or the insanely popular Savvy skid is a far better choice as it weighs much less and protects just as good, if not better than the steel skids.

The gap is IMHO something you just have to get over. Once you do, you’ll find out that the 1.25” body lift allows for tucking things much more than the 1/2” body lift.
Fair enough, that all makes sense. It would keep me from having to go much higher with the suspension too.

What chromoly shafts are popular for the front 30? Thinking of replacing the shafts instead of just upgrading the joints.

The delivery date for my track bar keeps getting pushed back too, looks like I won't be getting anything else done until next weekend.

I was telling my wife how much some of the upgrades I want cost and her reply was, "So? If it's what you want to spend your money on what's wrong?" I got lucky with her!

Track bar came in yesterday unexpectedly, can't wait. My OCD should be put at ease with a nice, centered axle. This week I just need to make sure I've got all the necessary hardware to *try* and make this a smooth project.

For the cleaner look that I'm going for, I was thinking about getting these Rubicon Xtremes from quadratec, I like the gun metal gray. More and more I want some more color on it over the black on black.
Edit: or the Mammoth Boulder wheels

Very similar to Extreme Terrains Mammoths. I have these in black, for about 3-4 years, and all has been good.

Didn't like the textured/matte finish of the flare extension plates I made, so I did a crappy color match paint job. If I like it better I may get them powder coated in gloss black when I get my console done.

The apartment struggle: laying everything out that needs to go with me tomorrow to my parent's garage. Very thankful that they let me use it. Made a trip to my storage unit earlier to get all of the bigger tools.

I had already installed my new shocks, muffler, rock sliders, and done the oil change and differential fluid changes in the parking lot, man I can't wait to have my own garage.

So far I've gotten the new Timken unit bearings in, new 760x u joints, 3/4" spacer up front, JKS track bar, rear control arms in, ditched the front bump stop extensions and put in the axle pad bump stops, and waiting on the last of my brake parts. Centric premium rotors all around with Centric pads (I ordered them before I looked into Black Magic, now wishing I got the BMB pads). Going to do the tire rotation while it's here too.

First time I've ever done u joints, wasn't bad at all. I want to do the driveshaft joints now. I think this upper arm might've been bent when I got rear-ended. Not sure how I missed it after I got it back from the shop

And of course, can't wrench without a good beer 🍻

Going over some finer details and wanted to take some glamour shots.

Driving around today felt a lot tighter, I think the track bar axle bolt was worn. I did the allen head bolt mod that I saw on one forum (Unlimited04 did it, not sure if it was on this forum or another) and I don't have any more vibrations at higher speeds. I believe it's a class 10.9 M10x75. Also have fewer clunks and squeaks.

Looking under Jeeps is always dangerous. You can literally always find something that needs worked on/replaced. I need to hit the lottery.

Question.. by putting the spacer in the front and adding the adjustable track bar obviously my steering wheel is off center and I know how to center it again.. but theoretically if I didn't adjust the tie rod at all it should not have messed with my toe, correct? Therefore, as long as my toe-in was correct to begin with all I should need to do is center the steering wheel again, no need to go and get an alignment?

Edit: found my answer. Will recheck toe-in and save my money

I love stickers, but in the interest of keeping things clean I decided to bombard the tailgate with them instead of the outside. I have a couple more to put on right now but I plan on it being a big ongoing collage.

Is it odd that the smallest things bring me joy? Changed out the top tow hook/bumper bolts to grade 8 and added the 2 on the bottom. Apparently the shop didn't put them back in after the accident repairs.

Also getting another list prepared for round 2 of maintenance/upgrades. Planning on getting rid of my Rubicon Express Super Flex lowers and the stock uppers from either Curry or Savvy. Need to readjust some of my steering linkage and center my axle again too, still not quite right.

Feels good to be doing all of these things after sitting idle for so long.
