Carring Extra Fuel

Looking for some ideas on carrying an extra 3-5 gallons of fuel on my TJ, I have a welder and I am fairly good at fabing things up. Just looking for some ideas on where to carry it

Have you cut the vent tube on your gas tank. That will allow your gas tank to carry an extra 5 gallons. There are videos on YouTube.

That only works if you don't already have 19 gallons which I believe all 4.0's do. the 4 Cyl wranglers have the same tank, but a vent tube limit its fill to 15 gallons.

With most 19 gallon TJ's the fuel gauge isn't accurate. Both of mine would show empty but they would only take 15 gallons to fill it, so 5 gallons where still in there below the gauge's empty mark.

It would be nice to fix this is anyone knows how, but having the "reserve" is nice too.

One day I'm going to run mine bone dry with a 1 gallon fuel can so I can limp it to the nearest gas station just to prove to myself it really is 19. I believe it is but I haven't gone full Kramer yet to see where "empty" really is and keep wimping out at 17 gallons.
