That's true, plus with that PNW traffic, 70/75 mph isn't a reality anyway. I'm also anticipating a high "fully loaded" weight

I have 3.73 with the 5 speed, getting 33's soon and will probably have to regear eventually so I don't hate driving it. How much of a difference is there between 4.88's and 4.56? I was planning on 4.56 when I eventually do it, but I'm not sure

There are a few calculators out there. I found one that discussed rpms at 75 mph and went with 4.56. I’m two miles from the interstate so that influenced my decision.

at 70 mph the difference is roughly 200 rpm. what tires are you getting? It will depend on their true size

KO2's, 33x12.5. I have heard they run small and are actually closer to 32". I plan on buying them and keeping the 3.73's for a while, since I do not want to spend all that for a regear right now. I have 31's now (measured height about 30") and except for some hills it handles great, so I'll have to see how much worse the bigger tires are

Since they run small I'm thinking 4.56 will be the way to go

I have to be honest, I’ve heard so many different views on this that my brain hurts lol. Originally, 4.88 was suggested, then XT said I’d be fine with 4.10s. This seemingly very knowledgeable fellow on YT gave a formula that calculated out to 3.73s. Before watching that video though I had somewhat settled on 4.56. It seems as though there’s a perfect ratio lingering out there somewhere... now, how to find it without regearing multiple times.

With 33s, 4.56 gears I'm turning 1100 rpm at 30 and just over 2000 at 60. With 3.73 those rpms were just over 700 and about 1500.

You're right, they will measure 32 with a tape measure to the floor. tape to wheel center is 15.6 for me, a little over 31" for the rolling diameter. I'd play around with this and see what suits your needs.

I did, I bought a few different sizes of the cheap chip brushes. I took the advice of someone else and bought the POR 15 in the small 4oz cans 6 pack. The 6 pack was about $45. Once you open a can and you reseal it, good luck getting it reopened! The small cans you can just use it until it’s gone and start another can. When you’re done for the day, just use the rest of the can you have open and stop. I used all 6 cans but that was doing the entire skid plate as well as dumping a half can on my driveway which you can see a little bit in one of my pictures. For the record, it’s still there and not faded whatsoever! LOL Be careful and try not to knock one over without a drop cloth or cardboard there to catch it.

How well did the POR15 self-level? I've always seen it looking very 'brushed on' look which turns me off and onto sprayable options like flat rustoleum with a clear coat.

Bought on Amazon for left-hand drives..(couldn't find one for the right-hand drives ) Anyway I was sure with some fiddling, tweaking and a BFH, I persuaded it too work..
Painted the back side to match the center and the job was done.

It was black ...got the local auto parts store to pant match the Gun-metal pearl of my TJ and painted it....Its held up over the last 5 years or so.
EDIT its not a perfect match as the body paint is 22 years old , but its close enough

First post on the forums. Just got my first TJ this month, a 2000 Sahara. Went out today and got some new shoes put on and went for a drive in the beautiful weather. Went with some BFG K02's in 31x10.5.
