Washington newbie here!

does Naches have bypasses for, say, a little guy on 33's? I know the wagon trail is suppose to be do-able.

asking for a friend...
Vasq,
I can only share my experience.
My Rubi was rolling on 31" until the big "Blaine" fest.
I made it thru everything we did with just a little bottom scraping. I had a ton of shit in the jeep, my wife, and two dogs. In the areas we drove, did just fine.
I cant speak to any other trails, however.

Wildman,
There was a Facebook posting about a Puyallup jeep club going on an open run, for anyone who wanted to go. My wife and I met up with them in a parking lot in Enumclaw and drove to the trailhead, I think around Government Meadows is where we started.
I've never been on the trial before, so I am still as ignorant as to the actual trail name. It was, however, mostly thru deep, thick forest, with some incredible views of to the sides.
Even in my stock height jeep, I didn't have any issues.

OK

Have you looked at the PNW4WDA and clubs in your area? They are a good org to be a part of as they work to keep our trails open.
You can go here and find the region you are in and then clubs in your region. It's a good way to find people to go wheeling with.

Some of the harder trails have a bypass for hard obstacles but a Jeep on 33" tires & one TAD can run 99% of the trails in the Naches area. Here is a list of some of the trails in WA. https://www.pnw4wda.org/washington_trails.php

I joined PNW4WDA last year, and haven't renewed my membership, so now I'm primed to do that. Thanks for the reminder!
In 2019 I reached out to a few local clubs via internet, and not one responded back. I kind of lost interest in joining a club. Now that the jeep is actually ready to go out and play, I might try that route again. I haven't seen much action out of any of the local clubs lately. Thinking COVID still screwing us up...

If you like mountains (which you really cant see anyway) and thick forest, its a wonderful place. To me, almost magical!
Hit me up if you decide to go. Might need a more experienced person who knows the trails. Could get easy to get lost, I think.

Here are the trails that the PNW4WDA uses during the Trail Jamboree and it rates them also. I don't know that I always agree with their rating but it's a place to start. Most of the trails listed are in the Naches area other than the Rimrock run.

A lot of the clubs are more old school and do the phone call or an email. And yes COVID has had everything screwed up. My club hasn't had a meeting in a year now but still has a run now and then.

skid plates and a winch and you can pretty much get through anything.

If you go over you need to go on a week day and stop by the Ranger station in Naches and buy the current map for the area.

Then Naches Pass Wagon trail has two parts to it. The west side of the trail doesn't open until July 15th so you can't run the whole trail yet.

We will both need someone who knows the trails! I've only been to walker and tahuya so far.

Friends-
Yeah right. I heard sumpin about a high pinion dana...
haha. the high pinion is... gunna go to the back burner most likely. It'll end up being a LP30 for a while, which will be fine for my application in reality.

This is my master plan.

I'll definitely give that a read!

Give this a look as I posted a bunch of pictures from different trails. If you ask where each picture came from I might be able to answer it but no promises.

Not great trail pics.
Sorry.
Wildman, some of your pics seem familiar.
Crossed several narrow wood bridges that the club was worried about unlimited even crossing.
Crossed over several gravel roads, and in the beginning we spenttime at government meadows and walked to and examined the cabin there.
I will admit, once we hit the hit the highway, I was completely lost and disoriented. After about an hour on the highway, headed back towards greenwater, I started recognizing where I was.

were you able to do most stuff in 4HI?

A lot of the trails in the Naches area have hard spots but then the rest of the trail is super easy. As you said a lot of it is scenic and there are always some great vistas of Mt Rainer. I have ran a lot of the trails either in 2 LO or 2HI but I try to stay in 4WD most of the time to limit damage to the trail.

I might do that. I've PM'd quite a few people and followed almost all of the suggestions. I'm not tossing it but I dunno if I'll be able to straighten it at home. And I'm not gunna keep throwing money at it for the time being. It'll get shoved in the corner until I run out of other things to do and want to revisit it.

Have you looked at NashvilleTJ's thread? He talks about straightening the 14 bolt he built for his LJ.
How bad do you think it's warped? I think trying to burn that bracket on with your 110V welder is part of the issue. I don't know how bent an axle can be before it isn't useable any longer.

I can say that my club has moved meetings online (MS Teams) and has had one every month, we also have regular outings etc, hasn't slowed down all that much to tell the truth. We are a bit north for you though as we sort of center around Everett.

Tombicon, a lot of guys in the club are very active with PNW4WDA though and know a ton of guys from other clubs... I could ask around for a club recommendation for your area if you'd like.
