CB antenna mount help

In the last two trips, I have lost two firestik antennas. No mount that I have used is able to stay tight. I tried a HD mount from amazon...

Here is what was left of the HD mount from 3N10 (John Bull) this weekend:

Parts on the right

The parts on the left are a spare set that has to be tightened every few miles. Is it the heavy firestik causing the problem? What are you guys doing for CB antennas that work in rough conditions? My Triband antenna never gives me trouble

I am running a Cobra 75x I think, the compact one where the controls are in the mic.

I have the FireStik and mount. The mount has a lock washer. I have also lost an antenna recently. If it every comes loose again I will add a lock washer to the antenna. I have to remove the antenna to get in the garage or I would lock tite it.

Perfect! Sounds like Breedlove is the go to. I'll get a 239 mount and post it up here.

Same here. I should have mentioned it in the OP. I have to take mine off as well. I am going to do a breedlove s0-239 mount.

Arrived in a timely manner with no covid excuses. 5 stars for speed and 5 stars for quality. It looks like old school (non CNC) machine work. Had to drill the mount to 5/8" from 3/8", after that, it fit really good. Pleased so far! Now, should I go with another 5' firestik or should I go with a shorter firestik? Maybe something entirely different? I like that the firestik is top loaded, any other options?

I have a 5' firestik, and a 2' ProComm. They can swap out in about 39.37 seconds - so why not have the best of both worlds?

I agree generally. My perceived problem (and I am not sure it is a real problem) is the trails we run are always hitting the top of the antenna. The truck band does fine but the top heavy firestik seems to wobble loose and fall off. I have never broke one, just wobbles off. My truck has a garage friendly short dual band and a longer dual band for road trips. That works great.

Nope. I ended up with a ProComm model JBC2400. The old timer at the Ham radio store where I bought it said "Its the only 2 footer that actually works!" How true that is, I have ZERO idea, but it *was* very easy to tune and has excellent SWR, which I can't say about the FireStik in this particular situation.

You're welcome to play around with the SWR - but I do want it where it is. The 5 footer works well there, even though its SWR ain't the best.
