SYE leak on 98 TJ

I've got a diecient leak from my sye kit. Previous owner installed it so I'm not sure what make it is. All the fluid is on the drive shift at the first u-joint. Is this leaking from the rear seal and does anyone know if a standard transfer case seal will work as a replacement or do I need to figure out which sye it is. There's always a drip off that bottom bolt after driving, but that seal is bone dry?

my vote is going to be weeping through the splines. I would remove the yoke and clean with brake cleaner. The smear rtv on the splines and reassemble.

This is becoming a common problem on the forum...
There have been several members recently that have encountered this same problem.
The step of applying a dab of RTV to the splines seems to be missed when installing the yoke after the SYE is installed.
As posted above; clean the splines well and apply a quality RTV such as the Mopar RTV and the weeping should be gone.

Looks like whatever grease is being used in the centering yoke is separating.

Well I got it all taken apart this morning and found that no RVT was nver used on the splines. Got her all gooped up and put back together, let it sit for a bit and it's 100% fixed!! Thanks a bunch fellas!!

If it was leaking at the outer seal along the splines I would expect to see a run down the output case. As it is, take a look at where the speedo plugs in, that area looks wet. It's hard to tell, take a picture of the whole TCase from the back and post up.

Lol thank you sir! Ya I checked that out in detail as well, everything looked OK and so far 50 miles later no leak so I think I got it. I've heard the speedo is another common leak as well, something to do with that grommet goin to trash. Lol there was quite a mess under there! Thanks again yall

I’m just glad you got it figured out. When I upgraded to a Tera low, I think I split the case 3 times and still had a leak. I finally replaced the front output seal and all was good. It was a BIG sigh of relief.
