Anyone here done a Dana 300 swap?

This is why we are using the DEO flip kit. It uses the Atlas TJ specific shifters. The twin sticks will be in the stock t case shifter location.
do you have the big output shafts? The factory ones air prone to failure. I clocked my flat. which helped with lubrication but that shift kit was not available when I did mine 15 years ago...

That kit looks pretty cool, I could stick the 300 in the YJ and the put the Atlas into the LJ since I want to get the LJ done it my lifetime!

I also put in 3/8" STUDs into the housing to bolt it to the transmission. If you get the clocking ring, you may need to get a longer input shaft...

It’s being mounted to a NWF doubler box. The box acts as the clocking ring, adapter and input shaft for the 300.

I dont think we will get them flat with the flip kits, the spacer/ shift rod assembly will add some height to them. Not worried, they don’t have a problem lubricating as long as there is enough fluid in them.

I would still use studs, helps with installing later when you are working under the jeep
Can use studs on the t case with the eco box. It is mounted with counter sunk cap screws. The Ecobox is mount to the transmission via studs. Kinda hard to explain.

It all gets assembled on the bench then gets installed similar to an Atlas 4. There will be studs to mount to the transmission.

The 300 is know for rear bearings starting on fire if you flat tow it. If its mostly flat, it will not be an issue. Lack of lube was the problem.

Yes I have heard of that when flat towing. I don’t plan on flat towing. I wonder if you could follow the directions of other gear driven tcase towing procedures of leaving tcase in 2hi and tranny in neutral. That keeps the oil slinging. I dunno.

No the 300 does not turn the gears to sling oil in neutral. Tri County gear used to weld paddles on the sliding clutches to try and help with this.

My experience says it will never happen... I can hear it now... it’s only 400 miles to the trail head, It will be fine!
Well good thing my life decisions dont revolve around your experience. 🧐
Besides I don’t own a tow bar and have no desire to flat tow my Jeep. I enjoy driving my Jeep to the trail.
