Does anyone run trail doors/half doors on the trail? I have not dented or damaged my full doors yet but would like to get a set trail doors before that happens.

I am looking at the UCF trail doors with the upper soft mount.

Any ideas or opinions?

No, we don't run them on the trail. We run them on the way to the trail because the wind can pick up out in JV which invariably blows across the road and through the rig. The trail doors do just enough so you can crank the heater up to full blast and not freeze to death on the way to and fro. Windbreaker over a sweatshirt or parka style jacket handles the upper bits that get cold.

Same. Wife hates all of the wind that comes up from not having any doors. But we just have Bestop soft halves.

Good to know, if my Chiropractor ever gives free sessions. I hate rocks more than most hate mud. (y) Mud is soft and forgiving. It reminds me of the ex wives, it does all the damage after you get out of the bad situation and lingers.
Half doors are good for keeping mud out too, if you run the windows.

I like the idea of half doors. I had JCR's lower halfs on my TJ, but wasn't a fan of the rattly Bestop latches they came with.

I've found that those latches are extremely bendy, I bent them to where they don't rattle. I prefer factory halfs to them but they work fine on the trail.

You can cut a piece of vent tube and place it over the latch catch to deal with the rattles too. I prefer to wheel without doors, but I keep the soft bestop ones with me for to/from and for when any weather moves in.

At $600, I'd just look for a set of factory 1/2 doors. Admittedly, they're getting harder to find, but I've seen two sets in the last couple weeks for $600. You just have to be patient and act fast.

This ^^^ then bolt on a set of armor and you're good to go.

Ya, but then I am still beating up OE hard to find parts. I cringe when a canyon wall or rock gets close to the paint LOL

Sounds like maybe a set of cheap soft doors are what's needed to get you to the trails and back. Then doorless on the trail!
