Need help identifying these Dana 44 axles

Hello!
So I decided to make this a post of itself, as it spawned out of a previous thread on a different topic. I picked up the Jeep in question back in January when I got t-boned in my last tj. The thing has had a ton of professional work done, which I have receipts for, but it doesn’t specify what the Dana 44’s are, just shows billing for two Dana 44 axles. So I took a bunch of photos, and found all the markings I could on both axles(spoiler, not much) and will put all the photos below. I believe the rear is a Chevy Dana 44 but I’m not positive.

The front axle(pic of the dif cover) has ‘Dana’, 39015, 263-9, REV 8, and 11-22-08 stamped on it. And the rear, the only markings I could find at all was on the axle tube(rear has a aftermarket dif cover on it so no markings there). ‘AAKKH3074C260-2’ is tha marking on the rear axle.
Any help would be appreciated!

So, maybe. I’ve been doing my best to find helpful info online and I’ve been seeing the term ‘waggy’ a lot, I guess referring to wagoner Dana 44’s. Which would make sense as I looked back at the receipts from the PO and(I’ll post a pic below so you can see yourself) it lists both axles, with very little description. One has ‘waggy’ on the line but I was unsure until now that that may be the wagoner axle

Based off that, you have a Wagoneer front Dana 44 and TJ rubicon rear Dana 44 with wheel adapters..

Ah makes sense. Next time I bring it to my mechanic I’ll see if he can nail that down for sure, just so I can know what upgraded parts will fit down the line. Thanks!

Yes my guess is that they are Jeep Wagoneer Dana 44 axles made after 1980. Before that the front differential was a passenger side drop.

The Jeep Wagoneer or Grand Wagoneer was produced until 1991and started in 1963.

This right here. The knuckles, 6 lug and lock outs are the give away.

Yea it is nice to know what’s under your Jeep. I know when I swapped out the Dana 35 from under my YJ to a MJ Dana 44 I kept that info, same as when I went to the BBK on my TJ. Last thing you need is to brake down some place and go into the nearest Napa Auto Parts store and I need a part for the rear brakes on a Jeep TJ, no wait it has differe rear end and I don’t know what it’s out of but it kind of looks like a Dana 44

Might not be everyone's cup of tea but I'd seen this book advertised back when Stacey David was doing Trucks. They call it their Deluxe Project Book and it has spaces to record all the different parts you might be using in a project. Things from axle seal numbers to brake part numbers to engine part numbers if you gone that far. But it gives you a place to record all this information and have it handy when & if you need this information. I understand that you could just as easy use a notebook and make your own this just sets it all out for you.

Things from axle seal numbers to brake part numbers to engine part numbers if you gone that far. But it gives you a place to record all this information and have it handy when & if you need this information. I understand that you could just as easy use a notebook and make your own this just sets it all out for you.

I have a spreadsheet for all the parts on my Jeep showing what I bought and when with prices. I have a tab on the spreadsheet that lists what part numbers I need for all the special parts on my Jeep since all axles, t-case, steering, brakes are all custom. I also put the spreadsheet on my google drive and google sheets so I can access it remotely from my phone when not at home on my computer. It has saved my but when I needed a steering part when away on a wheeling trip. I was able to pull the spreadsheet up on my phone and then order the part and drive to the store to pick it up.

I SUCK at working a spreadsheet but I like the idea. Which ever way you choose to keep that information is a personal one but I do know with all the custom parts I have on my rig I've got to keep track of it.

Of course the next problem is then getting the parts counter person to ignore the questions on their computer and just grab the part by part number I'd asked for. Cause if I say it's for a 1997 Jeep Wrangler SE they tell me it won't fit.

That’s a great idea, I’ve done a crude version of that with my last Jeep. Definitely gonna do a better job with this one. Especially since it’s got a bunch of custom work already done, having all the part numbers written down will be a big help.

Taking over for a min, I’m not knowledgeable about these, anyone know the WMS? I need a 65” front axle to match the rear. Seller is not helpful. I asked if it was wide/narrow track, still waiting for more info.

The diff will be on the wrong side. Those are passenger side drop. You need a 1980 and up for driver side drop. WMS is ~ 60" or so. Cherokee Chiefs I believe are wide track at ~65" WMS

He has it listed as a driver drop, I was assuming if it was HP it looked right, but the leaf perches don’t make sense now that you say that. I’ll just keep looking for something else.
