The car was wrecked back in March so I haven't experienced any summer weather with it. I would read Amazon reviews to find an answer to those questions.
One of my questions.
if this is the greatest bumper since sliced bread, why do we need a reinforcement? Why not a steel bumper and call it done? The weight would be slightly more, but hey, my Warn Stubby is 39 lbs. that ain’t much more, and I don’t need to reinforce. Shouldn’t it be acceptable to buy a 39lb bumper?

There’s a few nice design things to appreciate about the Savvy bumper that almost no others I’ve seen do. Deeper top deck, lower wraparound, ...
Science, that's why. The corners should not be optional. The corner is welded to produce the shape. When you weld tempered aluminum, it causes the material to transform back to the un-tempered state and is a fair bit softer and by virtue of that softness more susceptible to damage.
It is not an issue of material selection either. It is an issue of location on the vehicle and where you intend to play and how hard. Steel in weights light enough to be tolerable or 1/4" and 3/16" in similar designs suffer the same fate.
You can see one of the problems I solved where similar design bumpers get bent upwards at the lower edge. The corners get tweaked upward which the corners really help to mitigate on the Savvy bumper.
It even happens to rear steel bumpers.
If you are going to play in the rocks, the penalty for doing so requires creative solutions, not lots of weight thrown at the problem.
That and who the hell ever said that they are the greatest bumper ever?
I’m aware of the need for the reinforcement due to the welding making the Al soft. What I didn’t understand was if that’s the case, why was it designed that way to begin with? Your material selection section and playing in the rocks remark answered my question.

They didn't design the bumper, I did and I won't and would never refer to it that way. It is a great solution to a very common problem. It was designed that way because you can't create that ramped profile easily any other way. Again, those corners should not be optional.
Our comments were after you made the assertion, no one ever said that statement. Somethings are just the best for now, someone else (or even Blaine) could design a different one that’s better and at that point people will share why it’s the relative best for them.“Greatest since sliced bread.”
I know, but these comments by various people are strewn around this forum in various threads. It doesn’t really matter, you did think it was a better design for what you needed. So did Josh. Who really cares? Doesn’t seem really relevant. The main question I had was why design a bumper that needs a reinforcement at that location if a steel bumper would not need reinforcement. Blaine explained why it was not just material specific. We got some good tech out of it, which is why I asked. Now are people going to attack wanting knowledge?
We (plural of majesty) should also point out, that I never said it was the greatest bumper. We said “if this is the greatest bumper since sliced bread...” This functions as a 3rd class condition (some call these 1st), meaning 50:50, maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. It would be a 1st class condition (some call this 0) if there were certitude. There can be some inexactitudes in the English language at points that other languages don’t share, but the point remains that some people just have to twist things because they are going to attack you no matter what you say, even if (another 3rd class condition) you say the same thing they say, which I have examples of on this forum.

If you ask questions like you have your head up your ass, does that change the value of the question or just the context it is being posed from?
Of course, but I wasn’t trying to be an asshole at all. And I don’t think of various ways to ask a question. I was in a stream of thought in Garrett’s thread and just posted what I was thinking. If it was offensive, I’m sorry about that, because I didn’t intend to be offensive.
EDIT: the way you phrased your question is condescending. It centers on the word “really.”
