Painted doors don’t match

Ok so I just dropped off the doors for a second and final attempt... so he said he had been thinking about it since last week and wanted to try another mix.. it would appear that the formula was in the wrong order ... had blue green first and blue red second in the mixing chart so he swap the colors in the mix putting blue red first and I wish I woulda got a photo because that's the problem.... now its so close I can't tell on the spray out card ... however the paint rep is coming today to see about a different mix using Sickens or something brand paint instead of PPG ... not sure that's the correct name "Sickens".. but that's how it sounds .. I will say it definitely has the purple shading at a downward angle and looks really really close on the spray card but he wants the rep to mix a shot and see what's closer ... but I think his mix today was spot on especially where it flops to purple at a downward angle so if it was not even in the same country before we are now in the same neighborhood but regardless I will either accept it or someone will get a good deal on newly painted doors... I'm gonna go by there on the way to work and get a photo of today's mix and post it this afternoon ... oh and I stand by my buddy and agreed that the first attempt matched perfectly in the building but not in the sun but after today I believe it will be worlds better

"flop" or red shading that gives it the purple tone ..
Flop isn't that. Flop is how the metal flake lays in the paint depending on how the panel is painted from what direction. I do my best to never try and color match metallics. It is almost impossible to get the flop to match and that will make the painted part look an entirely different color. A good shop can get it closer though. This was tub rails, corners, and rocker backers color matched using the cowl as a sample.

From the remix this morning ... way better . I agree that the mix is incorrect from PPG all he did was swap first and second in the recipe with the amounts staying in position .. now its blue-red first and blue-green second ... let me know what ya think now...o h and thus is not the final color .. the paint rep is gonna do it in a different brand of paint. I left the cowl as a reference

Is this the origial color? What type of PPG paint did he say it was? I ask because I work for a PPG store and I can see if there is turth to it.

The paint code according to PPG was the first attempt ..to much teal... this paint came from Sickens or how ever you say it

Sickens is not ppg, what was your paint code, it will tell me what color it should be and how many variance there are for your color

That is so much better way to keep after the painter to get it right and props to the painter for wanting to out out a nice product...the paint is so shiny I see you are wearing crocs lol

Paint code is PBT .. 2 variants came up one was for the jeep the other was later dodge trucks but PPG had blue green first and blue red second and the first attempt would flop teal ...well you see above

The painter is the best in the area and we were in grade school together ... been knowing him since kindergarten and I got a really good deal to start with ... including the new exterior handles I'm into these doors for ..are you ready ... $530

That looks like a fantastic job! Did you get it painted in Eden?
Sorry I can't reveal the painter til I talk to him . Said he didn't care about social media but I promised I would keep his name out of it ...but I will give him props on the second spray ... and the time he spent with me spraying cards and comparing and explaining to me how paint works ... glad I didn't chose paint and body as a career but I knew long ago I don't have that talent... he always did ... he has a painter but he sprayed my doors

Oh and yes as far as I know it's the original paint .. if its been painted it was the whole jeep and it was many years ago

Just looked up your paint code and the Variance for it and one is a darker and the other is redder. No toners are discontinued but this usually happens when they go with a cheaper paint and it doesnt match. Im not sure why its a GM color on your jeep tho. At least he fixed it for you.
