Frame side track bar mount bent

Hey folks, so I have this bent frame side track bar mount. I've heard it's forged steel, would it be ok to heat and bend \ pound back to level with a BFH? or should I be looking at some a replacement weld-on bracket (I've heard these are a nightmare to remove.

See what @mrblaine has to say, but that sure looks like you’d need a new bracket entirely. I don’t know how effective a BFH would be here without potentially damaging some of the welds at the frame.

thanks Mr. Blaine here is what it should look like , this jeep came to me this way and a local body shop said they could heat and pound it back to level again but I'm a little worried that the mount would become brittle or crack from the stress. Wanted to get some thoughts.

Post a better picture of YOUR bend, not how is should be. We can't see the stress on the welds OR the bend for that matter, with the pic you posted first.

Why the F, is there a come-along on your front diff? You literally just need to turn steering wheel to line up track bar, with the TB disconnected, with tires on the ground

Welcome to the forum. Rest assured, @mrblaine is well aware of what it should look like. He asked for better pictures of your FUBARed mount before opining.

I know what it SHOULD look like. I need to know what it looks like now to tell you if it can be fixed. Is the frame buckled inward on the inside? Is the mount cracked? Is the frame cracked? All things readily revealed in a few pictures.

Heat and bend back will work but both sides need to be plated with 1/4" roughly of the shape in the below red outline. The compromised webs need to be tuned up some.

A few have had theirs crack before. I’d be interested to hear how it bent. Maybe the PO would have a good story to share

IMO. If you are going to fix it, get a shop to install a NEW double shear mount and get rid of that janky track bar

It is a forging but the webs have stretched and they won't be strong enough when they get bent back.

Yes very happy with my alignment and the way it rides now, the only real issue is the limited articulation with this thing at it's limit
