Factory XM Antenna Location

I have the factory XM antenna and module that I'm looking to install, but the FSM is vague on exact location. I know it goes somewhere on the roll bar on the driver side, but based on the shape of the mount I'm not 100% sure where. The Mopar add on kit puts everything in a different location than stock so that does't help me either. Based on the FSM I have a feeling this wasn't a factory option until 06 which I’m afraid means that my 05 doesn’t have the mounting points drilled out.

If anyone has picture of where/how their factory antenna is mounted I would appreciate it. Or if someone could snap me a picture of their 06 roll cage where the cross beam meets the windshield spreader WITHOUT padding I would also appreciate that.

It's not fussy about its location so long as it's on top of the rollbar or close. The soft top or hard top will not affect or reduce the signal strength from the satellites. The lower it is mounted the worse its reception.

Hard top on, angle isn't the greatest but you get the idea. The antenna has its own padding cover.

I know you want to use the factory bracket, and on my 06 it's where the diagram shows. What I have is the Onyx, and at first I used the factory setup, but found that it cut out quite a bit.

I decided to use the small antenna that came with the Onyx and now it only cuts out in a tunnel. The wires were very simple to route.

Brother this is perfect! I couldn’t figure out how to mount it flush but it makes all the difference seeing that the bracket free floats on the end. Thank you!
