Today was depressing. I thought the bulk of my build was supposed to be done Friday. Shop did not call, so waited. Today got a text that it was "done". I went and looked at the mess they made. Googled the problem for an hour, went back to look at the mess they made - showed them where they screwed up. They would not even offer to try to make it right. They said it would get fixed when I had an alignment done. I don't think fixing a lift install is usually part of a standard alignment job. Oh well.

They were installing a Savvy Lift and a Currectlynk. My front axle now is offset 2" to the passenger side (he set track bar to factory length, disregarding the fact that it was adjustable for a reason). The offset is so bad it forced the Johnny joint on the adjustable track bar into the coil spring. Steering wheel is nice and centered, only a little off - little being about 60-70 degrees (but oddly enough, once the front axle is moved an 1" to the drivers side, that will probably clear up mostly). I know the mechanic - I have to wonder why the blue !@#$! he was thinking that this is an acceptable way to install a lift. (This is the 3rd vehicle I have had him work on, he can do good work). All I can figure is his assistant ditched him (not shown up for 4 of the last 5 days, messing up his shops schedule - not to mention his time budget on the installation. Already went to another shop to schedule the alignment - next Friday... Arrgghhh.

On the better news side, the radio mount from Arizona Rocky Road came in today. So I have several evenings worth of electronics installation to pass the time over the next 2 weeks - cameras, new head unit for the stereo, and a GMRS. Not to mention the hard top sitting in the yard. I probably can pull the roof platform off and take it to the aluminum fab shop to work on the rod holders... So perhaps it is not an entire 2 weeks wasted.

Was it Dallas Offroad?

Thanks bro. I think my plan is to stubby the front bumper and then line X bumpers and sides to match?

Here is mine- it was done in an hour maybe, on the jeep-

I used a speed square, marked the angle top and bottom, sliced it, folded the front back and welded it-

No, it was just a local custom car shop. He does nice custom cars, but those are much higher budget. He takes on smaller projects when he has time. I assume he thought he had time before his assistant decided to stop coming to work - then the lift install was taking a longer than he budgeted.

I probably will pull the LJ into the driveway tomorrow and see if I can adjust the track bar myself - at least enough so I don't damage anything before getting it aligned.

I have noticed since I dropped the skid plate 1" to fix the drive shaft vibration that shifting into 2nd 4th and reverse has been impaired . Is there a concern I should know of ? I am going to put a SYE on but not right away. I am braving my first longish trip and I guess this will be a shakedown and a telling if I made all the right moves on my lift. Put plugs new cap and wires , sure starts up better and I could tell a difference. Trans shifts okay but have to really pull it good going into those gears. First Jeep adventure , hope it is uneventful of any trouble . Fresh oil and everything lubed up ..... cross my fingers !
