Royal Purple: holy crap like a new transmission!

I'm running MT90 as that is the GL4 75w90 recommended on Redline's website for my AX-15. Seems to shift pretty smoothly. I also have a B&M short shifter. 157k miles.
The best thing I did with my NV3550 and My AX15 trans was the B&M shifter upgrade, made shifting so much better.
Unfortunately with my 6 speed, I am not ready to take the $550.00 B&M shifter plunge. Although I have read that it makes the 1-2 and 2-3 shift much smoother.

The only thing special about Royal Purple is its purple dye their marketing guy came up with. That purple tint they add doesn't last long.

My next-door neighbor manages a transmission shop, he disagrees and uses RP on his personal vehicles as well. You will read many stories, even in this thread from people who switched back to Royal Purple. They are a very high quality product and also well-marketed.

I'll agree they are well marketed lol.

I switched to Royal Purple about 3 months ago. It was available locally at the 'Zone and said right on the bottle it was safe for synchronizers/yellow metals. The AX-15 does shift much smoother now, but I do believe that it was only it's 1st or 2nd oil change since new... that coulda played a part in it!🤣

Thirty years industrial experience with gear boxes that have had water intrusion and abuse I can say I have seen royal purple keep these gear boxes going till we can change them out over the weekend. It’s good stuff. I cannot sat mt is better in industrial applications but I can say I’ve seen numerous rescues with royal purple. Good stuff.

That is what my neighbor was telling me who manages a transmission shop. There is no doubt they have strong marketing and some gimmicks like the purple. Orville Redenbacher also did, but the guy spent 3 decades developing a perfect popcorn kernel. When it was ready, nobody was buying it even though it was superior to other popcorn kernels. They hired a marketing guy, changed the brand and the rest is history! #1 selling popcorn to date. You can have an amazing product and amazing marketing even with some gimmicks.

Redline MT sucks:coffee:

My Redline MT doesn't suck in my case it's just basically doing the same job as the factory oil was doing on my 6 speed! It did give me a first to second crunch that wasnt there before the oil change but thats gone now after around a year?
I would imagine Royal purple is a very good oil too but for some they are expecting something life changing to happen, most people would never contemplate changing gearbox oil unless they had a gearbox problem to start with.
Redline cost me $200 in Australia so there is no way I would swap for Royal Purple which is also very expensive in Australia.
Although, some people believe nothing works for anyone because it didnt work for them or they didn't really need anything to work for them so it's all gimmicks and marketing! same as engine oil and even "dare I say" higher than recommended oil viscosities on a worn engine lol
