Tire indecisiveness has got me all out of whack

You just need to decide what is more important: Wheeling or street driving. If wheeling, then go with an MT. Otherwise, the Cooper STT Pro sounds like a good fit. It's not a real MT, it's a hybrid tire. I ran those for a few years and they gripped well on the rocks and handled well on the street too.

until now i had given up on the STT Pros since i thought they were a $300+ tire in the 33" size. Found a few places for $260. Only 40 more per tire compared to the Mastercrafts. I just may continue with the coopers.. Even tho they were currently on my jeep from when I bought it 2 mths ago, I've never essentially experienced how they're supposed to feel/act. I've been unknowingly driving with 2 severely cupped front tires and a separated tire belt since i bought them. At least this way I can keep 2 of these for matching spares.

Are you talking about the stt pro or the st max? The max is their hybrid tire. The stt pro is very much a mud terrain style tire but geared more towards rocks when you read their brochure on them. The tread design is similar to bfg but I would say the Cooper pro is geared less toward mud and more towards rocky terrain.

I have ran the stt pro before and they worked good for the muddy rock trails I ran fwiw.

I'm now pretty positive I would not put AT's on these rubicon wheels the more I think about it. It's not a daily driver, so I'm not sure why I started the thread with the mindset of switching from STT Pro's to anything else.
Now I still have a set of the steel D-window wheels that if they don't sell, I could use those for the AT's one day.

The falken wildpeaks are a pretty good at tire. I am running maxxis razr at on my truck and like them too.

Honestly if my tj was used more cruising duties with some wheeling I would be in an at tire. That or a maybe a km3 mt. They just ride so much better, less noise and better road traction.

I love the STT pros, and I’ve also had Maxxis Razr, GY MTR, and KM3’s. My favorite tire, and what I’ll return to is the Cooper STT Pro. Love that tire. As @suicideking said, it’s a hybrid tire. Great tire.

Are you going to do anything to the Jeep to accommodate the 33s, or just stuff them under there?

I just put Mastercraft Courser CXT tires on my Wrangler. Love them. Have them on my F150 too. Look like a MT tire but ride like a AT tire. Quiet and smooth.

You certainly can get yourself into a quandary over tires! I'm having to clear some unexpected expenses, otherwise I would have already done mine. I won't be driving my Jeep on "tough" trails, but OTOH, I don't like getting stuck and there's plenty of opportunity to do so in Florida between mud and sand. STT Pros sound great - I'm trying to figure out if I want those, General Grabbers, or the safe choice of K02s. I hesitate on the STT Pros both due to the OP's belt separation problem, as well as the street Coopers that are currently on the Jeep - one of them suddenly decided to not stay balanced despite multiple attempts making me suspect it too has belt separation. Weird sidewall "micro bulges" make me NOT impressed with Coopers in general, but I may be howling at the wrong tree.

I mentioned this in another thread but I thought I'd do it again. Whatever you buy ... CHECK THE DATE CODES! I bought set of Duratracs for my MJ about a month ago. The date codes were from 2014, 2015 (2 of them) and 2017! o_O The shop was a shocked as I was and didn't hesitate to replace them. I got 31x10.5x15s which probably aren't the fast movers they used to be so there may be a lot of old stock sitting in the warehouses.
