NV3550 and ChatGPT

I asked ChatGPT a couple questions I knew the answers to, it was pretty good. One I asked was how to change the ignition switch actuator pin on a 2002 Wrangler and it got most of it right but left out the need for a security T-10 torx bit. I told it that it had forgotten the security T-10 torx bit and it immediately apologized and confirmed the job "definitely" needs one lol.

Cant you just opt out of the smart saving energy that nest offers? We bought our house with a nest thermostat and every now and then I get an email and notification on the thermostat to opt in for energy saving offers and just delete it. Its worked exactly how I set it and hasn't limited my heat/AC

What data would you be worried it could collect that your cell phone isn't?

It’s just additional data and cross-referencing that can't be undone, and potentially you're opening your life up to many more than you realize. The fewer gateways you have to open, the harder it is for them to get in. I intentionally leave my phone places and have no "internet-of-things" appliances because of data tracking. I refused to get a Roomba after I learned they collect and upload data about your house. Who wants that info? Why do they want that info? Someone is paying for collection, processing and storage of data for a reason.

And nearly every other popular website.

Which is one of the major reasons why I’ve never been a part of fbook or similar social media.

You can. I did. It still raised my thermostat one degree without my input or choice. I know exactly how I want my temps set and I’ll pay the extra if needed.
But when I heard the Colorado nest took control I said goodbye nest

I would be far more concerned about the postings on this forum than the presence of people and my house temperature. Also, my dog is aways home to activate proximity sensor.

I get your point but I'm frankly not worried that my Roomba uploaded my floorplan lol.

Also plenty of information on your home from your county and if it ever sold is already out there.

If we get to a point any of this information is relevant, I will have a significantly different lifestyle where I won't be much concerned about my A/C temperature.

I'm not either, until it's used by the wrong person/corp/gov, but at that point it's way too late. I choose to make them work harder for my info than it's likely worth.

A little off track here, but a simple scenario with something like Roomba, what if your local tax office is looking to confirm your square footage, just to make sure you're paying your "fair share". That tool that you paid for might "find" and extra 100 sf that you’re now going to be paying extra taxes on.

Or a realistic scenario with the nest thermostat, a new "climate change" tax has been levied, your house average temperature for the month was above or below the dictated level, here's your bill.

AI will make processing that data much easier for the corporations and government. I think it's best to limit the "bugs" in my life.

Usually that info is half correct, but you are correct, it’s out there and generally available. The crazy thing is some people willingly correct it for some reason.

I got on some list with the wrong middle name. Probably cross referenced with the guy in my state that has the same name but a felony record for stealing old people's retirement accounts.

Someday AI might turn me in to the police if it sees a photo of me shooting. Even though I'm not a felon. I do have 2 speeding tickets on my rap sheet.

All people have a shadow facebook and google account. If someone mentions a person in their timelines, or tags them in a google photo, they go into the shadow account. Those companies don't waste data others provide them.

My realtor yesterday said she was worried about losing her job due to chat. Home searches are already easier thanks to Zillow and realtor. I guess chat could tell me exactly the house I should really purchase

Sorry @Chris - I didn't intend for this topic to go off the rails like this. Maybe I should have posted something less controversial like, "Which oil should I use in my Jeep?" :ROFLMAO:
No need to apologize! Discussions can naturally go in different directions and it's always good to hear different perspectives. If you have any questions about what type of oil to use in your Jeep, feel free to ask!

(that's the ChatGPT response!)
