What did you do to your TJ today?

Every time we go there, the Germans talk to us like we've never built machinery before and that our clamping equipment is not sufficient because we don't use hydraulic ram pressure.

Does your equipment work in a highly-automated production environment? Europe has much more automated manufacturing plants due to labor costs, and hydraulics (and even more so, pneumatics) are used for that reason. About 20 years ago, I toured several factories in Europe with an automation company we were looking to partner with, and I was astonished at how few humans were on the production floors at each one.

We have equipment from all manual to fully automated. Most of our customers are in the middle as they are not large manufacturing plants and neither are the companies in Europe either. As a matter of fact, most of the woodworking (unless it's MDF panel furniture and cabinetry) has been moved to the eastern European countries that have cheaper labor.

Finished up the meth install I think. As long as it doesn't leak. Haven't had it in boost yet, just got the new tune from FRP last night, probably flash it and go do some logging on Friday.

Like BMW not putting a dipstick on a turbocharged I-6 to check the oil level. Why have a dipstick when you can rely on an uber reliable piece of German electronics.

I had an '07 328xi with non-turbo I-6 and that same oil level sensing shit....so irritating (and only the tip of the irritation iceberg, as it were). I redeemed myself by selling it to buy my first Jeep earlier this year....haven't thought at all about that electronic nightmare until reading your post.

Love my LJ!

Replacing axle hubs today… anyone have any tricks to prevent them from spinning while I remove the center nuts? They are stuck, and my impact gun won’t do it. I’ve got it on jack stands, so hoping the answer isn’t “have someone else work the brakes.” Do I risk damaging something if I shove a pry bar or something similar in the joint just behind the hub? Thanks.

I've run a long pipe or pry bar between wheel lugs so it levers against the ground and use an impact, if that makes sense. If you're worried about damaging the threads run some nuts on the lugs or wrap them with something.

Of course depending on how you have everything positioned this could have the affect of trying to push the vehicle off the stands. So give it some thought.

Put your wheels back on set it on the ground break them loose and then remove the wheels.

Yes Oregon made gas pumping legal for everyone.

I've pretty much always pumped my own...either telling the attendant to fuck off, telling them a white lie that my tank overflows and explodes, or just filling up in rural areas where it was legal.
