A savvy shifter is a true upgrade. The sure feel and smooth drama free action is money well spent. Good move.
Didn't know this was a thing, but now that I do I think I want one. Not impressed by the feel of the factory setup, feels like a rottweiler chewing rocks.
Good Jeep-related weekend, numerous items addressed.
Finally got around to installing the hitch kit, though still need to finish up the wiring.
Finally got the leather shift boot glued up and installed.
The pleather boot was chewed up inside by a circlip hammered on the shift lever shaft in order to keep the boot from dropping too far (assume this was factory). Didn't care for this given the new boot, so I ripped it off and printed an ABS split ring to take its place, cinched on the shaft with a zip tie.
Speaking of 3D printing...
Finished printing off the final revision of my cabin air filter design, just need to glue it up. Then need to figure out how I'm going to release the files for others to print if they feel froggy...
A heron covered my Jeep, my neighbor's Subaru and a 5ft swath of asphalt between the two with shit (like a B52 carpet bombing the Ho Chi Minh), so took Tess to the carwash for a hose down this afternoon. Lots of pressure washing around the cowl area and I'm glad to say the cabin air filter kept the water out of the hvac and off the passenger side floor mat, good test. I pulled the cowl when I got back home to inspect...and promptly noticed my cowl drain was backed up something fierce. Managed to clear out a solid slug of gunk with a fish tape, quite a bit of water and what looked like potting soil on the ground afterwards...
Last but not least, I fixed my radio antenna, finally....
