1000+ Horsepower I6 Jeep Engine

Yep,diesel trucks are that way too. You start at stock going "yeah this thing does just fine" then after a few years of some mods and put it back to stock it feels awefully slow

Personally I think 300 was a nice spot to stop when I had the TJ. Just enough power to enjoy and still stay reliable.

This is where I’m at with 6 lbs and I’m very happy with it tbh.

I decided early on that I’d stop once I could make reliable power bc I don’t have access to a dyno and I don’t have the ability to do what you’ve done with your transmission.

I just had to figure out how to drop IATs in all RPMs which was challenging bc I have a steering cooler in my grill so the Banks heat exchanger would not fit.

Once I overcame that hurdle, I’ve simply been enjoying it…sold my Ballenger AFR gauge and NTK calibration grade sensor along with my water meth kit since I knew my AFRs were around .80-.82 lamba, and my IATs are basically 10 to 40 over ambient (I keep track on my A-pillar).

I love my rig, yet I appreciate folks’ rigs that have less or more mods. We all have different situations and priorities. The key is to not achieve happiness through comparison or you’ll always be poor.

A project like this isn't something most any of us are going to do with our TJs although I'm sure the guys at Newcomer Racing will have a plenty suitable rig to install a high hp I6 into (like his DD XJ or the project Rambler race car I've heard about). I for one though am very happy for not only somebody out there pushing the known limits of what our engines can do in relatively stock form, but also sharing that info. It absolutely matters to a lot of people interested in much more mild engine builds knowing what is it isn't an issue at say, 500-600hp.

Knowing that the block would easily hold together at that level is pretty significant and not something a lot of engines of that era or later can claim. I've messed around with a lot of JDM I6s and while a JZ wouldn't think twice about that kind of power, you start pushing an RB much over 7-800hp in an awd chassis and they are known to start splitting the block in certain places. The venerable Ford 302 is known for splitting the block in the lifter gallery above 600'ish hp. Now a few dyno runs doesn't mean our beloved AMC I6 is bullet proof, but it provides some never before had data points.

And for anybody saying you "Why would you need more than 190hp in a TJ?" I say put down your purse for a minute, take off those heels, and go find a nice man to give you a ride in a fast car. If you still have to ask "Why more hp?" then you'll never understand. 😆

Misogynist much? This bad bitch will keep her heels on and take you for spin in her Model Y Performance that might have you crying for mama.

That was directed in the direction of people who had already commented on the thread. And @Zorba 😆

And EVs, while admittedly faster than what most people have ever driven, do not impress me in the least. Especially a Model Y.

Some crusaders are a victim looking for an abuser

"it burns me up when some guy tells me the basic stuff like Ima dummy. But it really drives me nuts when they are RIGHT"-gianna

Looks like daddy issues to me

Being in CA i deal with reverse sexism all the time. I love telling sexist and racist peeps that consent is everything. I don't consent to collecting victims just because I'm a white male.

I do see now she called herself a bad bitch so I'll reserve judgement. It's an in good fun!

Yours yugely,

A tremendous misogynist

Lifted the head. I think that was with stock head bolts? I noticed the bit around 10 min about the ARH header in the n/a setup.

Ahh yes, the coveted gray area. Is it an EV? Is it a hybrid? Since it required onboard fuel and an onboard ICE, I don't consider it an EV. Regardless, a win at Dakar is always impressive.

I will be impressed once I see any EV start, run, and finish the 24 Hours of LeMans. Until that time, it's just another 1,000 hp engine with a 90 second lifespan.

I haven’t watched it yet, but fwiw I believe there’s a YT video of them breaking down and inspecting the engine.

Edit: @SkylinesSuck posted that video above…I didn’t see it bc i had Chris ban me for a bit lol
