If you want your heater to work it kind of helps if you plug in the blend door actuator. 🤣 Now I’m getting hot air. Woohoo! Last couple weeks have been cooold driving around. Thanks to @mrblaine for giving me just the advice I needed to do a little looking around.

First time airing down and really wheelin’. Oh my! Whole new world. It does make everything easier. I can focus more on steering. And it just goes. It’s different. Smoother. More control. Felt really good and gave me more confidence, which scares me. 🤣 Tranny temps got up there with ambient temps at 47F.

That’s hotter than I’ve ever seen mine. Time for a cooler!

💯 I wouldn’t want the fluid any hotter than that. After I got on the road it was down to 175*F pretty quick, but I can only imagine if I was wheelin when the ambient temp was 70*F.

Time for that setrab we talked about 30 pages back?

Yeah, and I’ve got other mods stacking up in the garage.

Right now I'm building some floating shelves for my wife’s laundry room. Then tyke the backsplash wall. Then butcher block deck over the washer dryer and new sink. Then a storage cabinet, so I’ll have to find a way to carve out some time. At least I’m not bored!

Sounds like you traded a lot of honey do's for that tranny 😆

My starter is still giving me trouble. Turn key, spins, doesn’t engage, whines. Could just be dirty, so I’m going to take it all apart. If that doesn’t fix it it’s probably the solenoid and I’ll have to replace the starter. The gear teeth looked good on both starter and flex plate.

I’d like a cooler that has a built in bypass. Any good suggestions? Most of my looking has been at Setrab, B&M, and Mishimoto. I couldn’t find anything with Mishimoto, but they do sell a separate bypass. B&M sells one cooler similar to the 7426 (which is now discontinued). Setrab offers a lot of coolers. I’ve found one I think will fit well that’s part of the STD line.

I also have no idea what all the fitting options are and what to do. The transmission cooling lines snapped straight into the radiator and that was really nice. I know I’ll be sending the atf to the radiator first, then out to the auxiliary cooler, then back to the transmission, but don’t know what fittings are direct fit or best to use. I’m sure some of you know.

Why are you set on using a bypass?

I'm not set on it, and I'd really prefer not to have more connections, but it gets cold here, and I am under the impression that it's not good for the transmission to be running cool. If I'm wrong let me know.

Typical winter sees most days in the 20's-30'sF, some days in the 0 to 20F and every once in a while -20 to 0F.

Typical summer is usually in the 70's -100F, some summers get up to 112F. By that time the trails are really dusty.

I can't see why I'd need anything more than this. Need to double check dimensions to see if it will attach to the V and avoid the hood latch.

What fittings do I want?

- AN male?
- Setrab 22mm female?

Hydro assist cooler goes above the tranny cooler so hood latch shouldn’t be an issue.

I’d use Blaine’s recipe for the cooler and if you decide you still want a bypass, add one later.

If you're going to run a steering cooler also, versions like this make it more difficult to run the lines. It's also one of the things that makes the cooler Blaine runs a much better fit.

Per something @Wildman pointed out:
